Elections are better than riots …

Rachel KnotleyAlberta NDP election triumph: What people are saying.

Federal Tories have lessons to learn from NDP victory in Alberta.

Five things the Alberta NDP have promised.

New Alberta NDP MLAs: A nurse, students, a yoga teacher and more.

An NDP victory changes everything Canadians think about Alberta.

Well, that pretty much accounts for the views of all the MSM voices in Canada outside of Alberta, none of whom actually matter a damn on the ground here. What about the view inside Alberta.

How the economy is reacting to the Alberta NDP win.

Incoming Alberta New Democrat premier Rachel Notley, in her first full day on the job, sought to reassure business leaders, saying she would call them and would work with them to build the province. Notley has vowed to raise corporate tax rates and conduct a review of the province’s royalty structure to ensure that Albertans are getting a fair return for their oil and gas resources.

Alberta has the world’s third-largest oil reserves, with 170bn barrels of proven reserves. Energy stocks led Canada’s main stock exchange to a triple-digit drop Wednesday as investors weighed the potential impacts of the election of an NDP government in Alberta.

I guess that pretty much sums it up from the media point of view.

What do I think?  Joy at the PC demise. Pitty for the kids who got elected. Relief that we can finally move on from the Party of Corruption (PC) that has dominated the landscape here for so long. Expectations that the Senior Bureaucrats will eat the young newcomers for breakfast and pick their teeth with the bones. anticipate having to build a Watermelon shelter to protect us from the coming rain of Watermelons over the next two to four years.

I believe that most Albertans are relieved that the provincial Progressive Conservative Party was virtually wiped out in a massive repudiation of everything they have come to represent culminating in The Red Queen Allison and her successor Quitter Prentice.  That verdict does not exactly spell doom for the federals no matter what the Kool-Aid drinkers in the MSM would like to fantasize about.  When one’s society has a fatal disease it must be dealt with drastically just as in any patient. I kind of see this election as Chemo for a fatal Cancer.  And it is MUCH more civil to just vote the buggers out than to resort to riot and murder.

Whatever the NDP choose to do now and however they choose to run things can’t be worse, long term, than what the PC’s have done over the last 10 years. In many respects this has all the hallmarks of what used to happen in our radical youth when things were going bad and we couldn’t seem to find a fix.  We just went out on a great big piss-up tear and got totally wasted man!  Then in the morning our first thought was “Where am I?  How did I get here?”  then we looked over and discovered who or what we were in bed with … “OH MY GOD!!! What have I done!!!” heh.

We will recover. Our penance will be four years of full on Socialist Rule. And who knows, these kids are sincere, motivated, intelligent (mostly) and have something to prove. Maybe they will achieve something new in the forest. Maybe Voltaire’s Bastards won’t tame them and confine them to the Ball Room. “From the ballroom for preschoolers to the copious supplies of furniture for that first apartment and beyond, IKEA forms an emotional attachment with consumers, says Ritchie, who continues to shop at the store and uses IKEA often as an example in his classes.”

Well, that’s enough for now. I will try to keep posting on developments in our newest Socialist Utopia.

Cheers

Joe
