Nice bus, right? I will get to what it is later but for right now let’s just say that this is an image of a modern tool for enforcing civil order and projecting the power of the state amongst it’s citizens.
Lately I’ve noticed in myself a pronounced dysphoria. At times this feels awfully close to despair or sadness, at other times it manifests as a kind of anger, even a sort of rage at the observed active planned destruction of one of the greatest civilizations history has ever seen. No matter how one dresses it up, no matter the makeup we choose to hide the ravages, our culture seems rotten, not impaired or mildly infected, but positively gangrenous, in the depth of corruption perceived all around.
Gay marriage, trans-sexuality, polyamory, Planned Parenthood, divorce, family collapse, and precipitously low birth rates along with a debased celebrity culture, corrupt political class, inept foreign and domestic policy, failing schools, violent and trite entertainment, and agencies of the state power employed to directly attack anything considered “religious” in favour of godless narcissism. It all seems broken right now, as broken as any culture in history if not more, and with no obvious path of stability, let alone recovery or (remotely) flourishing again.
If this society was a horse or a dog, (or now, in this culture of death, even older humans as well as baby humans) the only “humane” solution would be to put it down, always assuming, of course, that the term “humane” even retains a shred of it’s original meaning. A traditional understanding of humane would include any or all of the following adjectives: kind, compassionate, good, kindly, understanding, gentle, forgiving, tender, mild, sympathetic, charitable, benign, clement, benevolent, lenient, merciful, good-natured, forbearing, kind-hearted.
My observations of our current culture conclude that unless a person or an animal are identified as a fashionable victim group “officially” by one or another of the myriad NGO’s and government agencies charged with “protecting our rights” we are pretty much pissing in the wind when it comes to expecting traditionally “humane” consideration of any sort, except in setting out rules under which one can be killed or tortured humanely and of course everything re-cycled to “save the planet”.
I have the image in my mind of the entire societal herd infected with cultural Mad-Cow disease. I guess I seriously question whether there is anything about this society that is worth saving? I seem have more to say but I want to think on this and add more in another edition.
Meanwhile, if you have doubts about what I wrote above just visit Being Liberal. Which of the following did you notice on this site: kind, compassionate, good, kindly, understanding, gentle, forgiving, tender, mild, sympathetic, charitable, benign, clement, benevolent, lenient, merciful, good-natured, forbearing, kind-hearted. ?
I didn’t think so. I guess what we are really looking at here is a picture of Progressive Liberal Society at its best.
So back to the bus above. That picture above is actually of a “Mercy Van”. Not a troop bus or a SWAT bus like you might have thought. The only way to deal with a failed society is to send in the Mercy Vans. Lots of Mercy Vans. “we might look to the Jinguan Auto Company of Chungking (now spelt “Chongqing”) in the People’s Republic of China. The company, which makes a wide range of specialty products, including bullet-proof limousines and executive command vehicles for Communist Party officials and the new rich, also makes China’s popular mobile execution chambers. And they are eager to develop new export markets.”
