This could have been a long and involved post but N.T. Wright wrote over 800 pages on this topic and I think I will simply refer those interested to his work and stick to what this means to me and why I have come to believe what I believe. First, it is absolutely clear to me at this stage that All of Christianity stands or falls on the reality of the Resurrection. Either Christ was/is GOD the Son and the Resurrection is a real event as we believe, and everything He taught is true and is as He says:
Jesus Christ, ca 30AD
“1Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God: believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I shall go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself: that where I am, you also may be. 4And whither I go you know: and the way you know.
5Thomas saith to him: Lord, we know not whither thou goest. And how can we know the way? 6Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.
7If you had known me, you would without doubt have known my Father also: and from henceforth you shall know him. And you have seen him.
8Philip saith to him: Lord, shew us the Father; and it is enough for us. 9Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you and have you not known me? Philip, he that seeth me seeth the Father also. How sayest thou: Shew us the Father? 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you, I speak not of myself. But the Father who abideth in me, he doth the works. 11Believe you not that I am in the Father and the Father in me? 12Otherwise believe for the very works’ sake.
Amen, amen, I say to you, he that believeth in me, the works that I do, he also shall do: and greater than these shall he do. 13Because I go to the Father: and whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do: that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you shall ask me any thing in my name, that I will do.” (John 14:1-14)
George Soros, 2012
Or, Christ was/is NOT GOD the Son and the Resurrection is not a real event as we believe, but rather some foundational myth of just another religion, and everything He taught is a lie.
There is no moral compass and all truth, good, evil, joy and suffering are simply some relativistic opinion of one or another charismatic person, more or less good according to their own judgement and the judgement of their particular followers.
In this regime, this philosophy, there is no moral difference no valid way to judge what are right actions and results between, for example, those who sought to save and protect the Jewish and Christian victims of the Nazi holocaust, and the bureaucrats and camp workers and soldiers who set those policies and put the “Final Solution” into action.
All that we have is a difference of opinion between the followers of different sociopolitical points of view.
In the society which does not believe in the Resurrection there are only differences of opinion and any and all means of forwarding one’s point of view are acceptable. Christians are just stupid suckers who deserve death or worse because they are “just too stupid to live”.
Might makes right, and outside of the Resurrection, that is the foundation of every belief system in history and really, anywhere on the planet today.
Our choice today is between North Korea and by implication China, and all the other totalitarian regimes making headlines today on the one hand, and the nominally “christian” west which has a history of “working for the good” but is currently in the throes of rapidly jettisoning that “old fashioned baggage” and rapidly moving towards the Korean model by way of Franco-European style socialism.

We are proudly living in the derelict castle of our past and using up the stores of our patrimony without providing anything or creating anything new for the future generation. All the while we prance about like drama students pretending that we wrote the play.
This is one of those utterly simple binary choices between two clearly, radically even, different paths of existence and the choice hinges on belief that there is a Good that is desirable and attainable by all men, or on a belief that there is no Good, that all choices are relative and equally meritorious, what I have previously referred to as “the Mystical Body of Christ vs The Mystical Body of Anti-Christ”.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks with the media in the foyer of the House of Commons following the release of an ethics report in Ottawa on Wednesday December 20, 2017. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Adrian Wyld ORG XMIT: ajw105
The latter path appears to be the predominant direction of our modern society, the clear choice, the politically correct mindset of the Luciferian Left, our progressive leadership and the vast government network of functionaries and minions who are engaged in forwarding the agenda of the latest “Final Solution”, as well as those who they claim to “serve” as in “public service”.
We find ourselves living our lives in a perfect classroom experiment involving Christ’s instruction about “loving our enemies”. If the delineation between the sides of this choice is not immediately clear then ask yourself “Why is the Tides Foundation Canada one of the major supporters of the Liberal Party of Canada?”
Who is at the top of the food chain in the Tides foundation? What’s in it for them? And why is Pope Francis’s administration lining up in lock step all across the spectrum with the global agenda of George Soros?
Don’t take my word for it … do your own digging … it’s all out there in the public domain.
‘The most monumental defence of the Easter heritage in decades … The Resurrection of the Son of God marches through a clearly organized case that confronts every major doubt about Easter, ancient and modern.’ Richard N. Ostling, Associated Press.
For me, this is indeed “monumental”, the best book about the Resurrection I have ever had the pleasure to read. To end this post I am going to quote from the Preface. I have edited and slightly re-arranged the paragraph order and structure into bite sized bits which I find easier to read online but the thoughts and words are all N.T. Wright.
“… in order to determine what happened on one particular day nearly two thousand years ago we find ourselves obliged to call and cross-examine a wide variety of witnesses, some of whom are simultaneously being questioned by advocates of other answers to the question.
The debate has frequently been bedevilled by oversimplifications, and to avoid this we shall have to set things out reasonably fully. Even so, there is no space for a full-scale history of research on the subject. I have chosen certain conversation partners, and regret that there was no room for more. My impression from reading the literature is that the primary sources themselves are not well enough known, or carefully enough studied.
The pilgrim who visits the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem faces several puzzles. Is this after all the place where Jesus of Nazareth was crucified and buried? Why is it inside the city walls, not outside as one had supposed? How does the present building relate to the original site? How did the place come to be so different from what the New Testament leads us to expect (a garden with a tomb in it, close to a hill called Golgotha)?
And, even supposing this is roughly the right place, is this the right spot? Is this rocky outcrop, now enclosed within an upstairs chapel, actually the top of Golgotha? Is this marble slab really where the dead Jesus was laid? Is this highly ornate shrine really the site of the tomb? And—a different sort of question, but a pressing one for many visitors—why are different groups of Christians still squabbling about who owns the place?
N.T. Wright, speaking at a conference in December 2007
These puzzles, though, do not noticeably affect the appeal of the place. Despite archaeological, historical and ecclesiastical squabbles, the church retains its evocative and spiritual power. Pilgrims still flock to it in their hundreds of thousands.
Some of them still question whether it all really happened. Did Jesus of Nazareth, they ask, really rise from the dead? Whether or not they realize it, they join a different throng on a different pilgrimage: the jostling, overheated crowd of historians investigating the strange reports of events at the tomb of Jesus on the third day following his execution. Here they are confronted with a similar set of problems.
The story of Easter, like the church at its supposed location, has been demolished and reconstructed again and again over the years. The tantalizing narratives in the gospels are as puzzling to the reader as the building is to the visitor. How do they fit together, if at all?
What precisely happened? Which school of thought today, if any, is telling the story truly? Many have despaired of discovering what, if anything, happened on the third day after Jesus’ crucifixion. Yet, despite perplexity and scepticism, billions of Christians around the world regularly repeat the original confession of Easter faith: on the third day after his execution, Jesus rose again.
So what did happen on Easter morning? This historical question, which is the central theme of the present book, is closely related to the question of why Christianity began, and why it took the shape it did.”
15. But if it seem evil to you to serve the Lord, you have your choice: choose this day that which pleaseth you, whom you would rather serve, whether the gods which your fathers served in Mesopotamia, or the gods of the Amorrhites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

Politics has an insidious ability to sneak past most walls and gates to pollute otherwise fresh vistas …
I turned on my smartphone a couple of mornings ago, and noticed a little paragraph at the bottom of the screen under the heading “Important”.
It was a “important news” notice to the effect that China has now banned Canadian CANOLA imports because of “contamination” or something like that.
I had barely opened my eyes and my defenses were still down absent my first cup of coffee. So I wondered why on earth THAT might be important to “ordinary Canadians” like me? I clicked on the link … Oh No!
It actually turned out to be an interesting article because even though the underlying tone was pro Liberal progressive, anti Conservative, the Global Network still tries to present all points of view. This is unlike CTV and extremely unlike the CBC, (our version of the BBC) our taxpayer funded, unsupervised and unaccountable, national liberal progressive propaganda ministry for the last 5 or 6 decades. It’s rather like imagining NPR as the only “news” source in America.
(WARNING … anti-leftist rant) “The CBC, (in the manner of Pravda’s role in the Soviet Empire of old), only ever reports items favourable to the Liberals (when they are in power) or unfavorable to everyone else whenever Liberals fall out of favour with our electorate, that very large group of Canadians who have been bought with their own money and fallen under the spell of “tax the rich” and “free stuff”.
Any reasonable person can safely assume that anything reported by the CBC and for the most part anything reported on by CTV is being “made up whole cloth” (fake news), selectively reported, misrepresented, or downright lied about, in the interest of Boy Justin, the liberal progressive agenda, and the social media narrative. The all important social media “narrative” rules the day and anything remotely resembling facts is always covered up, twisted, omitted, or savagely under-reported to support our “NICE” social media fantasy narrative.”
End of rant … Sigh … this never changes … it’s just like Canadian weather, a brief period of hopeful spring and sun leading up to every election, followed by years of dark stormy subzero despair as the Natural Ruling Party is returned to power with a 30%, first past the post, “plurality” to merrily drive us deeper into the pit in a years long drunken orgy of corruption, deviance and trough training for their gang-members.
I recently watched the beginning of “LOTR” again for the fourth or fifth time … and this time around I was riveted by the overwhelming resemblance of the current Canadian Liberal party leadership to the “Nazgûl” of LOTR. But most likely, in my momentary despair, I give them far too much credit, and they are merely a few low level Orcish lieutenants, rather like Saruman’s servants.
Anyway …. onward and upward … I hope …
I then checked out the comments section below the Global article, which were reasonably OK on both sides, right up until I came to a vicious tirade by some lovely young “lady” (from Toronto?) screaming about “Harper sold the Wheat Board to the Saudis“. Somehow that seemed to be the reason for the current impasse between Canada and China … well Duh!
Generic harpy sharing political views, early 21st century
The only thing she left out were allusions and accusations about “Nazis’. She must have dropped her script.
Why do these “people” always seem to turn up to scream down all reasonably polite discussion with their delusional rants whenever and wherever a forum arises.
AND WHERE ARE THE “MODERATORS?
I guess this shortcoming might be due to the bottom line, which is that Global is just another MSM social media outlet and they agree with the shrill screaming of all the usual harpies.
Color me confused. Aside from the fact that the Conservatives “privatized” the Canadian Wheat Board in more or less the same way that the Liberals (covering up a scandal that occurred under Papa Doc Trudeau) “privatized” Petrocan and shut down their NEP scandal of embarrassment. What is the exact connection again? Anybody? Remember the NEP? Anyone? (the sound of one hand clapping)
Oh well … Just to refresh our memories … In 1975 the Liberal federal government created Petro-Canada, a Crown Corporation of Canada (socialism in action).
The Canadian “national oil company” was the Liberal response to the world energy crisis, because they believed they could “fix” the world energy crisis by taking over private oil companies in Canada.
Petro-Canada was involved in the big Hibernia oil find off Newfoundland and was a founding partner in the Syncrude oil sands venture in Fort McMurray, Alberta (that was long before Hollywood came out against the “Evil Tar Sands” while all the usual suspects were all still screaming about “Global Cooling”.
“Inner Thoughts” Rodrigo Rodriguez, from the album “Inner Thoughts” (2006)
At that time the Alberta oil industry was overwhelmingly owned by Americans. The United States was also the major importer of Albertan oil. The Petro-Canada Centre (1975–2009) was known in the oil patch as “Red Square” until it was purchased by Suncor.
The National Energy Program (NEP) was an energy policy of the Government of Canada from 1980 to 1985. It was created under the Liberal government of Prime MinisterPierre Trudeau by Minister of Energy Marc Lalonde in 1980, and administered by the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. The NEP included plans for a “greatly expanded Petro-Canada” End of history lesson for today. There will be a pop quiz later.
And the private company that the EVIL HARPER and the Conservatives sold the Liberal Socialist Canadian Wheat Board to was a partnership …
G3 Global Grain Group is a joint venture between Bunge Canada (parent Bunge Limited is an American agribusiness and food company, incorporated in Bermuda, and headquartered in White Plains, New York, United States. As well as being an international soybean exporter, it is also involved in food processing, grain trading, and fertilizer)
Our #G3Tour2019 is passing by G3 Pasqua, SK. Late last year, CP Rail chose G3 Pasqua’s high efficiency loop track as the site to showcase it’s new fleet of hopper cars. On our loop tracks, they’ll move more grain faster than ever
… and SALIC Canada Ltd., (a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC), formed to invest in Canada’s agricultural grain industry by establishing a highly efficient coast–to-coast grain enterprise).
So 49% American grain traders and 51% Saudi financiers who put up most of the money in the mind of “nice lady” equates to “EVIL HARPER SOLD THE WHEAT BOARD TO THE SAUDIS”
But of course the screamers only ever mention the Saudi’s because it’s not fashionable right now to mention that the Liberals are in bed with their American masters at least once or twice a week (our Tuesday and Thursday night regular?) when they are not busy embarrassing the rest of us prancing around in their costumes on the international stage.
Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer for Chinese telecom giant Huawei, is accused of skirting U.S. sanctions and accessing the Iran market. (Huawei via The Associated Press)
Now, keep in mind that the above linked article is sourced from our National Liberal Propaganda Ministry and everything they report is suspect.
It is the CBC’s JOB to run interference for the Liberals by saying “Canada Has No Choice“.
The actual “legal” requirements are listed as:
“Under the terms of the extradition treaty, the U.S. could request Meng’s arrest in Canada if she was wanted in connection with conduct considered criminal in both Canada and the United States, and if the offence carries a jail sentence of a year or more.”
Once that threshold is met, the treaty compels Canada to act. Really?
If that is the case, then I have to ask, why have we never extradited all the thousands of 20th century U.S. draft dodgers, and even U.S. Military deserters, or any of hundreds of Islamic terrorists (of course not all Islamics are terrorists) currently living in Canada.
These bad actors are wanted for offenses, including murder, carrying jail sentences longer than a year, in the U.S. and other jurisdictions? According to the CBC we would have had to extradite all these bad actors because “Canada has no choice”
ALL of those categories of beings (gender neutral persons) also meet the above legal requirements but they are all still here. And many of them hold senior teaching positions in Canadian Universities, are drawing down generous Canadian Social Assistance benefits, or living on their generous Canadian pensions, and no-one feels compelled to send any of these bad actors to their just legal rewards.
Well, you know the saying … If it walks like a crock, and it talks like a crock, and it smells like a crock, well what are we to think.
Boy Justin explains: “The appropriate authorities took the decisions in this case without any political involvement or interference … we were advised by them with a few days’ notice that this was in the works,” YEA, RIGHT, does any observer think that is even remotely close to anything resembling truth in a Liberal administration where you have to get a hall pass from the PMO to go to the can.
Remember Gerald Butts, linked to below amongst those Liberal stars currently departing cabinet … well, here is a quote on the power of the PMO:
” The PMO, of which Butts was the senior and most powerful member,is a secretive palace guard. It operates outside public view and scrutiny. PMO staffers are not public servants. They are political appointees, and their role is as much to foster the partisan political interests of their party as it is to coordinate government policy in the public interest.
A number of experts have noted that, since the 1960s, Canadian democracy has degenerated into a kind of executive dictatorship of the PMO. Both Liberal and Conservative elected members of Parliament have frequently complained, in private, about being relegated to the role of trained seals. Their job is to clap when ordered to do so by the PMO.
In the case of Butts, a goodly number of Liberal MPs are quietly cheering at his departure. He was not, it seems, popular with the rank-and-file of Justin Trudeau’s elected caucus.”
Our Parliament and our Senate are exactly the same sort of puppet show that we see wildly clapping when Putin or Xi Jinping enter the house.

Meanwhile, Meng Wanzhou appeared at a bail hearing in Vancouver. That hearing was completely separate from the actual extradition process, which could take months. Wait a minute? This doesn’t sound as nicely cut and dried as the CBC claim “Canada has no choice”.
“Snow”, by Kobudo, from the album “Ototabi” (2013).
What actually has to happen in this country? The late, lamented, “rule of law” says that the U.S. has to make a formal extradition request within 60 days of Meng Wanzhou’s arrest and send the supporting documents to the International Assistance Group, the specialized branch within the Department of Justice that handles extradition.
Within 30 days of receiving those documents, the IAG would advise (former) Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould on whether a formal extradition hearing would be justified.
So Canada in fact does have all kinds of choice, hmmm … Under the treaty with the U.S., Canada cannot arbitrarily refuse to issue an authority to proceed. But once the formal extradition is made, Wilson-Raybould (the (former) Justice Minister) can exercise ministerial discretion.
Canada’s extradition laws give Ottawa the power to reject requests that it considers oppressive or politically motivated, a back door known as the “political offense exception.” For example, extradition requests that seek to prosecute people for their race, religion, sexuality or political opinions would be out of order.
This invites allies like the U.S. to ground their requests in unproven “Criminal Charges” from their own corrupt Justice Department, instead of just saying “Quick, we are fighting with the Commies, grab that Chinaman!”. Which is exactly what Boy Justin did to our Justice Department when the Liberals lined up the “deferred prosecution agreement” to help protect their close friends at SNC Lavelin.
OH NO!!! Canada actually does have all kinds of arbitrary choice! OH NO!!! The CBC lied! Imagine that! That’s how all those other criminals and murders managed to stay in Canada at our expense safe and sound from any prosecution for their crimes.
Not only does this reek of hypocrisy and double standard but it also clearly points to the truth of the comment that Canada is the largest state in the union, or is the correct term “protectorate”? Sort of like the Virgin Islands, except that no one would mistake Canada for a virgin.
Oh Yea! and what about the Department of Justice and that Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould person? Yea, what about them and her? Isn’t she that Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould woman?
You know, the woman that Feminist Boy Justin just fired and then muzzled because she wouldn’t immediately bend the knee, kiss ass, and sidestep her Department of Justice to give favoured exemption from the rule of law (criminal code offenses exactly like the charges Meng Wanzhou faces from the U.S.) for pending charges against Boy Justin’s good friends at SNC Lavelin.
Boy Justin must have read some juicy scandal rag story about Bill Clinton and his interns and Boy Justin thought “Hey! Why not me?“. Imagine the shock to Boy Justin’s sensitive ego when Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould turned out to have more balls than he did.

You just have to love the warm fuzzy joy of being Liberal, knowing that all the rules don’t apply to you, they only apply to all those stupid little people who don’t agree with you if you feel like dropping the hammer on them. How can anybody trust the Boy?
It’s kind of like the Liberals decided that it was better to piss off the foreign pimp twisting their ear, than their local pimp who has their tits in the wringer, alluding to the fact that over 90% of all Canadian trade goes to America. Who do we trust?
Who do they think they are kidding … choosing between the one twisting your arm or the one squeezing your balls, while posing as the virtuous virgin, is a no brainer, but of course, in Canada, we are not allowed to talk about that part of things are we? Who do we trust? Please, please spare us your Liberal bleeding heart, jingoistic BS, about Canada having no choice. This is all just an economic, political, and (frankly) National Security shoving match between the U.S. and China about who has a bigger one.
Just Getta Life … accept the internationally recognized reality that we, are and ever have been, living in America’s spare room, and everything we take for granted as adopted children depends on the sugar daddy in the living-room. Get over yourselves … our life is pretty damned good compared to anywhere else in the planet and certainly better than life in China, unless things have dramatically improved since I was in China in the 80’s, no matter how our government tries to skew the model in their favor and to benefit their friends.
At the root of this is that Canadian Liberals are more afraid of America than they are of China … and maybe that is smart and maybe it is not so smart, I can’t really speak to how smart that love/hate/fear relationship between Liberal Canadians and America is.
The chattering classes seem to live in a perpetual “hate America” bubble that they picked up at university drinking the KoolAide from the cups of their American draft dodger professors (remember the 60’s and 70’s? well, … maybe the 70’s, but the 60’s are rather a blur). Of course, the political classes waffle all over the place depending of the venue of their latest photo op.
“Mikoto”, by Kobudo, from the album “Ototabi” (2013)
What is really important, what really matters in Canada? It sure isn’t even remotely whose spyware lives in our civilian and military electronics, and it certainly isn’t how America feels about who trades where? Unless they are realy, realy pissed at who we are trading with and what we are trading? Yea, I can see that being important, for about as long as it takes President Trump to pick up his phone and tell Boy Justin to “bend over”.
But some things are undeniably IMPORTANT … Canadian Liberals, for our own good (of course), destroyed the Dairy industry in Quebec, and the Fishery in the Maritimes, and the Manufacturing sector in Ontario, and the Oil industry in Western Canada and Newfoundland, and now they are proceeding to destroy the Agriculture sector in all of Canada, and I guess the next will be Coal and Mining sector in BC which currently exports most of its production to China, and so on and so forth, world without end Amen.
Wailing about “Harper sold the Wheat Board to the Saudis” is just so damned school yard juvenile. Who do we trust?
All of this destruction brings with it 10’s or even 100’s of thousands of jobs lost in “the rest of Canada“. So, please understand a truth, my sweet young “lady” so happy about sharing your political wisdom, on your way back to your clerking job at Chapters.
The net result of your world view and your vote, and all this destruction, is that we, the ordinary people of Canada will feel all the pain. And there is going to be a lot of pain. I doubt your were alive in 1982 but Western Canadians at least, still have memories. And we bitter clingers in flyover country are very close to the tipping point. Who do we trust?
Meanwhile the Liberal elite, after effectively ditching the rule of law on the pretext of saving a couple of thousand of jobs in Quebec, and shilling for their friends at SNC-Lavalin, are driven home to their riverside mansions by their less than minimum wage immigrant chauffeurs and looked after by their less than minimum wage “special status” immigrant servants.
And you, my lovely young Toronto lady, take the bus back to your crash pad in some low-rent Toronto slum like Parkdale, to write some more shrieking comments on your social media tablet, to keep loyally pushing the progressive narrative toward the holocaust.
Now we all know that the best definition of shill is “A person engaged in covert advertising. The shill attempts to spread buzz by personally endorsing the product in public forums with the pretense of sincerity, when in fact he is being paid for his services.” As in Who are you shilling for?” or “Ignore the n00b, he’s just here to shill”. Who do we trust?
And maybe that all might be enough for Canadians to wake up and “Vote for Change” this October … the same slogan that 4 years ago ushered out the most successful government in the history of Canada during the last election.
Unfortunately there are huge populations of urban KoolAide drinkers like the lovely young lady mentioned above and it is unlikely that the huge percentage of urban tit-suckers in our population will vote against the tit.
On the other hand, in a completely unexpected outburst of sanity we might just vote them out … you never can tell when Canadians might have a moment of lucid thinking, as David Warren, a much better writer than I, explains: “We are secretly quite sane“.
So we Canadians are stuck watching a cheap remake of “TWINS”, and brooding over our fate.
Sigh … ever was it so … bread and circuses almost always triumph against self discipline and responsibility at first, at least until the system runs out of other people’s money and crashes down taking everyone with it and we get Venezuela, or Eastern Europe and Russia, or North Korea, or even China for the vast majority the 1.4 billion souls who have had the good fortune to be born there.
So I am left feeling animosity towards “city dwellers” everywhere, in the great urban metropolis called Canada. The R.O.U. in rural flyover country have dropped off the political map. And against that animosity I have been reminded by a Priest whom I respect greatly that Dorothy Day said something like “How we feel about the least likable people we know is how we feel about GOD”. That He, GOD, was absolutely serious about “Love each other as I have loved you” is undeniable, but Oh – So – Hard to put into practice in every day life.
So I am ruminating about “suffering” and the sources of same. It seems that suffering would be significantly reduced if only we focused more on improving ourselves instead of focusing on correcting the perceived faults of those around us. Focusing on ourselves and our own faults we would not be so disturbed by the resistance of others to our opinions and desires. And all the upset is about what is really just the “lipstick on the pig”.
Something inside or outside pushes us along and we seek ourselves in everything we say and do. And yet we are mostly oblivious to that. We meander nicely along when everything is done according to OUR will, but if things turn out against us, we quickly, reflexively, leap to dissension, strife and unhappiness, showing a “preferential option” for confrontation. And the constant static and noise of “the others” is a non-stop reminder that things are unfolding very much against our will and we are in for a very bumpy ride.
So it gives me pause to realize that I am seriously expected to love these pink tribe folks as Jesus loved me. GOD created the whole pig and everything else from just … well … nothing. And He had to create “nothing” first because He already was everything. That kind of love is truly something awesome … truly beyond human comprehension. Kinda puts all our pride and ranting and prancing around in perspective. Dust to dust and all that.
“Prophecy” Adrian von Ziegler, from the album “Feather and Skull”, (2013)
(continued from my last post) the underlying thought giving rise to this post and the previous posts on the “New Paradigm” is my continuing ability to be offended by the words and actions of others with whom I have no connection whatsoever, and who, if someone asked them, would reply “Joe Who????”. Why am I annoyed with these antics?
The Dead Marshes – from Peter Jackson’s movie “The Two Towers” based on “The Lord Of The Rings”
As I wade through my personal mental virtual reality of Frodo’s “Dead Marshes” where the public actions of our modern Roman Curia color my faith life, I have to continually remind myself that “telling it like it is” is really only “telling it like what I think it might be”.
It’s not really “like it is” because there is no way I can know what it is. What I “think it is” is colored by my pride, my opinion, and my desires regarding what I think it “should” be. I am completely missing the “deep” game. Only God reads the heart. In a post yesterday, related to unexpected disappointments, Mark Mallett says:
“… And then it happens. She (the cow) lifts her tail and lets it go. Fresh manure hits the straw and sprays in every direction. And there it is—melting like a chunk of butter in a pot of rice—poop in my pail.
Our Sacred Cows of Dogma, Belief, and Opinion are alive and kicking
My perfect morning was shattered. Instantly grumpy. I led her back to the corral, washed my bucket, and plumped myself down in my office to pout for a minute. But what I read next changed my mood in a hurry—a word allegedly from Momma earlier today:
… Pray for the strength of faith; trust in the love of the Heavenly Father. I am with you. I am manifesting myself to you. I am encouraging you. With immeasurable motherly love I am caressing your souls. Thank you. —Our Lady of Medjugorje to Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo, March 18th, 2018 (annual apparition)
… Our Lady reveals something crucial here. You see, every day, there is going to be poop in the pail. Another big bill. A pile of dirty dishes. An annoying co-worker. A new car repair. Another illness. Another disappointment… Faith is what says, “God has given these to me as a gift to see, first, what kind of a person I am (patient or not, charitable or not, humble or not…. etc.); and second, to test whether I really trust in Him.” Because it is not a perfect day that increases our communion with the Holy Trinity, but a death to our self-love, self-will, and desire to be God—to control everything around us…”.
A priest friend of mine has remarked from time to time on his own conduct in traffic, to the effect that: “… a sure sign of one’s measure of fraternal charity is how one thinks and speaks about other drivers in traffic …”. Truer words were never spoken … how one thinks and speaks about other drivers in traffic. I am thinking that “drivers” and “traffic” are all the drivers in the traffic of life.
All of us impacting one another in a multitude of ways and the odds are astronomical that the irritation is not attributable to any malice or maleficence but simply to normal daily human self love and lack of awareness. We are simply not aware, for the most part, of our impact on others, all the other drivers on the freeway of life. We give offense without a moments thought and that offense is taken personally and grows and is passed on to yet more drivers.
Saint Teresa of Avila
Saint Teresa of Avila says that concern for their honor is the reason why many people who have devoted themselves to the spiritual life, and are very deserving on account of many good works, are still “down on earth” and never succeed in reaching the “summit of perfection”. That’s really what it is, right? I am attached to my “honor”.
What I “think it is” is colored by my pride and desires, by my concern for my honor, my opinion, and my version of reality is just that … my version … and my trust in God’s plan, much thought about, is actually missing in action. Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?
Pride, pride, pride, it is always about pride. So, back to Father Spadaro, and Anthony Annett, and the new Paradigm, and why are they pissed off with EWTN? And most importantly (for me) why does their being pissed off piss me off?
When did the Assistant to the Director of the IMF’s Communications Department get the right to make the calls on who gets censured and who gets excommunicated in the Roman Catholic Church? And why is a senior Catholic cleric agreeing with him? Well, from my last post I repeat: just who is Anthony (Tony) Annett:
As mentioned, Tony handles outreach on the sustainable development agenda. (that’s right, Tony works for the United Nations).
Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?
But … there is another view of what the U.N. is doing in Africa, and this view is not covered by Western media in any noticeable way since it flies in the face of currently fashionable Western sexual mores. One articulate presenter of that view is Obianuju Ekeocha, a native African and author. The blurb for her new book on Amazon says this:
“Since the end of colonization Africa has struggled with socioeconomic and political problems. This has attracted wealthy donors from western nations, organizations and private foundations who have assumed the role of helper and deliverer.
While some donors have good intentions, there are other western “progressive” donors whose gifts to Africa are often attached to their ideology of sexual liberation.
These are the ideological neo-colonial masters of the 21st century who aggressively push into Africa their views on contraception, population control, sexualisation of children, feminism, homosexuality and abortion.
Obianuju Ekeocha, a native African and author
The author, a native of Africa, shows how these donors are masterful at exploiting some of the heaviest burdens and afflictions of Africa such as maternal mortality, unplanned pregnancies, HIV/AIDS pandemic, child marriage and persistent poverty.
This exploitation has put many African nations in the vulnerable position of receiving funding tied firmly to ideological solutions that are opposed to the cultural views and values of the people.
Thus many African nations are put back into the protectorate positions of dependency as new cultural standards conceived in the west are made into core policies in African capitals and the new redefined terms of the west become applied within various African ministries.
This book reveals a problematic facet of neo-colonialism that is rarely seen or talked about. Drawing from a broad array of well-sourced materials and documents, it tells the story of foreign aid gifts with strings attached, the story of Africa targeted and recolonized by wealthy powerful donors.”
So Anthony (Tony) Annett is on the “other” team, the team that Uju Ekeocha is writing about in her book “Target Africa”.
Tony plays a leadership role in the Ethics in Action initiative bringing together religious leaders, academics, business and labor leaders, development practitioners, and activists to develop and promote “ethically-grounded practical solutions tosustainable development challenges“. That would include religious leaders like the senior Vatican bureaucrats in the Pope’s “A” team.
Odds are pretty good that the “President For Life“ will outlast the “Pope for Life” by a couple of decades at least. So who is going to manage this new relationship?
What’s not to love about this new development, the oldest organized theistic religion on the planet in bed with the oldest atheistic government on the planet with respect to the appointment of “acceptable” bishops?
I wonder what that will mean for the Catholic Church in China? Maybe Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio figures he is going to infiltrate and revolutionize Chinese society – seems a long shot from here but I suppose it is conceivable … maybe … after all, the Church has infiltrated, penetrated and converted some pretty formidable pagan empires in the past. Ever hear of the Roman Empire?
China, The United Nations, the Roman Catholic Church, I never thought I would see the day when one could reasonably mention all three as connected in a story that actually reflected what is going on in the world today.
Oh, I guess there is still more stuff to sink into in this “Dead Marsh” but I guess it can wait … Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?
I am giving much thinking to silence … this multiplication of feelings and complaints and dissatisfaction with the turn of events that distresses me because I place such high value on my own way of thinking, on my own point of view, my own opinion.
Yes indeed, I have a very high opinion of myself – not much immolation of self going on here … probably I should just shut up … instead of saying “NO!” just choose to say nothing at all … choose silence.
Portrait of Henri Nouwen in the 1990s by Frank Hamilton
In “The Way of the Heart”, Henri Nouwen says: “Thus, silence is the discipline by which the inner fire of God is tended and kept alive. . . . What needs to be guarded is the life of the Spirit within us. Especially we who want to witness to the presence of God’s Spirit in the world need to tend the fire within with utmost care.
It is not so strange that many ministers have become burnt-out cases, people (who) say many words and share many experiences, but in whom the fire of God’s Spirit has died and from whom not much more comes forth than their own boring, petty ideas and feelings.
Sometimes it seems that our many words are more an expression of our doubt than of our faith. It is as if we are not sure that God’s Spirit can touch the hearts of people: we have to help him out and, with many words, convince others of his power. But it is precisely this wordy unbelief that quenches the fire. . . .”
Taken from: “The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise” by Robert Cardinal Sarah, Ignatius Press. Kindle Edition. (para 135, locations 1233-1239)
So, maybe I should just shut up … too much talking … too much pointing … too much “Hey What’s Going On?
Its a New Paradigm, Grasshopper … but Master, it looks like a duck …
” … to be effective, justice must be blind. And our government should be too. The way to solve the injustices of the past is not to create new categories on which to base discrimination. It’s to treat all citizens equally. That’s not what the Liberals are doing.
They recently tabled a budget where money is allocated on the basis of “inter-sectional race, gender and sexual identities.” They’re creating more division and more injustice. And when I called them out on it, I was told to “check my privilege and be quiet.”
This wasn’t just another troll on the internet. It came from a Liberal Member of Parliament. There are people in this government who believe my opinion is less valid because I’m a white man. They believe the government should segregate people based on their gender and skin colour and treat them differently.
Help me fight this radical ideology. I believe the government should be blind. And that it should work to the benefit of all its citizens.”
Why is this not a surprise? It seems that Liberal Members of Parliament have a new expression for Virtue signalling, which we all know is the popular modern habit of indicating that one has virtue merely by expressing disgust or favour for political ideas or cultural happenings, or even another person’s personal values.
Welcome to “Check Your Privilege” as the latest strawman putdown belittling anyone and everything which the leftist progressives dislike or disagree with, which obviously includes anything or anyone with the damned nerve to point out their peccadilloes.
A breathless “Me To, Me To”, Celebrating A Big Shiny Bright Red Nothing …
NEWS FLASH! … THE EMPEROR IS NAKED!. And, as usual, in this and every societal directive and direction, the sitting members of the Canadian government are years behind the curve. Evidence current Canadian legal policies on infanticide and parricide which are a decade behind Europe’s.
But then Canada has always been a breathless “Me To, Me To” sort of place, a place where the inhabitants never really matured past the grade school recess. If you ever want a window on Canada’s future 10 years down the road, just look at whatever is fashionable now in Europe.
Lieberose Solar Park
The prevailing paradigm in Canada is to always be ten years late to the progressive social policy party or better yet 20 or thirty years late, for example the global warming party and solar power party and carbon taxes party which Europe has now abandoned as completely unworkable.
Which is why we now have German Solar Power companies, fresh off the boat from the country with the highest electricity prices in the world, building Solar Farms in Alberta – they are out of work in Europe where there is no more public money to be had for that particular golden calf.
when one is living in a country where the norm is to be ten years old … ten years late … no new paradigm … ever, just other people’s failed ideas and programs, it is truly jarring to have the Magisters of the Roman Catholic Church beating the “New Paradigm” drum.
What impact does this “New Paradigm” have on two millennia of Catholic teaching on marriage and the family? Either Jesus said it, or Jesus didn’t say it … this observation is binary, at least to me in my ignorance.
Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt in Rome …
Let’s just “blue sky” this thought pattern for a bit. If Jesus is God, and God is “All Good and All Truth, then “It”, that is “Truth” is not subject to Reform and Paradigm Shifts. You can’t just dump two thousand years of “Truth” because is has become unfashionable in our “New Age”.
If Jesus is not the source, if Jesus is not God, then there is no church, and no Truth, and certainly no need for the curia and all the old men of the Catholic hierarchy.
Absent tradition, the Magisterium, the Petrine Ministry, and the Catholic Church, all that remains is “Anti-Christ” and the global agenda of the United Nations, and the “New World Order”, a World Government.
In that context, why do we see the Holy Father, our “Godfather”, cuddling up with China, or being vocally supported by the agents of the “Sustainable Development” and “Family Health” agenda of the U.N.?
Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State for the Holy See speaking at the United Nations.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State for the Holy See, and his “New Paradigm” can only exist in a world where “Truth” is not truth … where everything is mutable and changeable according to the fashion of the moment.
“Since the LORD your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to defeat your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy; and He must not see anything indecent among you or He will turn away from you.” (Deuteronomy 23:14)
Where is the “Holy” in this “New Paradigm” … if what has gone before is so unworthy that a complete “New Paradigm” is necessary then how are we, the ignorant sheep of the flock to know and trust anything?
Arianism was a new Paradigm, Pelagianism was a new Paradigm, Jansenism was a new Paradigm, Albigensianism (Cathar) was a new Paradigm, Islam was a new Paradigm, the Reformation was a new Paradigm, Modernism was a new Paradigm. and each in its day was sincerely believed by its founders.
Medieval – Lissner Troice Sergieva Lavr
No wonder then that Modernism and Secular Humanism and Progressivism all conflate “Organized Religion” with human maleficence and essentially teach that all religions are the same, delusional, superstition, Medieval, and should not be taken seriously by any reasonable person, any sophisticated “modern” person.
Still, mankind feels an undeniable thirst for the spiritual, a thirst for something above and beyond himself, a thirst for a “higher order”. And the Progressives seem to be comfortable ignoring the “deeply spiritual” New Age movements proliferating in their own ranks even as they mock and denigrate the ages older “organized religions”.
They seem to be able to ignore the fact that the adherents of “organized religion” have always vastly outnumbered the “New Age” pantheist religious of our “modern” day.
And both old and new together dwarf the tiny minority of vocal unbelievers, the “elite” worshipers of “man”, and “self”, as the higher order personified, the “brights”, the atheists, who get all the publicity from the “…journalists, who know nothing about anything, and are therefore liberal all round.”
We moderns are too advanced for such “religious” superstitions. So we get such joyous “nuanced and contextualized” outbursts as Cardinal Parolin “pontificating” about new paradigms …
VATICAN CITY, January 12, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – Vatican’s Secretary of State Pietro Cardinal Parolin stated that Pope Francis’ teaching on marriage and the family found in his controversial 2016 exhortation Amoris Laetitia arose from the Pope’s “new paradigm” for the Catholic Church.
There is much ado these days, much controversy, in Catholic Church circles and some media, about this “New Paradigm” in Catholic doctrine, as initially expressed in Chapter 8 of “Amoris Laetitia“, and most recently we see:
The call for an “interdict” to be imposed on the Catholic media empire started by Mother Angelica came from Anthony Annett, Assistant to the Director at the International Monetary Fund’s Communications Department.
So, when did the Assistant to the Director of the IMF’s Communications Department get the right to make the calls on who gets censured and who gets excommunicated in the Roman Catholic Church? And why is a senior Catholic cleric agreeing with him?
Well, that is for the next post …
So much to read, so little time, this “thinking” thing really makes life harder doesn’t it?
“Ninety Miles an Hour”, Bob Dylan, from the album “Down In The Groove”, (1988)
Every now and then some blogger coins a term worthy of note. Such a one is : chiroptostercornuceophobia, “fear of the shrieking batshit insane” … This should prove refreshingly useful amidst the world-wide plague of “shrieking batshit insane zombies” we currently are dieing under.
Bubonic plague victims in a mass grave in Martigues, France
Like the historic Black Death which killed an estimated 200 million worldwide during the 14th century, our modern plague of “shrieking batshit insane zombies” has tangentially killed an estimated 2 billion people worldwide in the last 50 years.
That is certainly a remarkable improvement in efficiency wouldn’t you agree. It is such a pleasure to see our much vaunted “efficiency experts” happily industrializing state sanctioned murder.
The 20th and the 21st century so far mark the high water mark for man’s inhumanity to man – the global slaughterhouse is running triple shifts 24-7-365 since at least the 60’s and this tsunami of blood has become just so banal and normal that it is not even really remarked upon any more.
In fact it has become so banal that the only thing remarked upon is the impolite raising of the issue and the embarrassing pariah is the person has the temerity to comment on the problem(s) associated with such currently fashionable trends.
Think about it. Over the past half-century, quietly and without fanfare, in ordinary towns and cities, in dozens of countries around the world, perhaps two billion children have been killed. They have died unknown, often unmourned, and acknowledged only from time to time.
The 20th century was violent by any measure. Thirty-seven million people were killed in World War I. Over 60 million perished in World War II. Six million Jews and another six million Catholics died in Hitler’s death camps. Twenty million died at the hands of the Soviet authorities. Sixty-five million Chinese were killed by the Communist Party, while forty-two million more starved to death during Mao’s Great Leap Forward. And so on.
But these numbers are dwarfed by the sheer volume of children who have been killed this past half-century. At the very least, this number of abortions is a demographic event of gigantic proportions. As the human race celebrates its 7 billionth member this fall, we should take a moment to remember the billion or two who fell—and are still falling—victim to the abortionists’ knives.
And the “shrieking batshit insane zombies” don’t care, not even a little bit just as long as nothing is “allowed to interfere with our “right” to pursue pleasure, as we use the child-making thing as a sweating-off spa on our way to money, prestige, a five-bathroom mansion for two, a tenured chair in Women’s Studies, the mayoralty of Camden, another year of nights out on the town, whatever.”
Subterranean Homesick Blues, Bob Dillon, from the album “Bringing It All Back Home”, 1965
Whenever I start to get depressed about the state of our local economy and the morality of our Socialist Progressive governments (see last post here) I tend to take a step back and consider all the good things globally, that’s right, I see many good things globally — good for Canada and Alberta at least.
Friend or Foe in the Middle East
On the right is a wonderful chart from one of the many newsletters I read … as a proud resident of the only province in Canada with a future (in spite of looking grim right now) I see reason for hope on the horizon. Alberta’s future is intimately tied to energy and the production and export of energy resources.
To say that the Middle East is a powder keg just waiting for a spark is actually an understatement of the reality on the ground, at least as far as I can determine reading all the international news feeds, newsletters and blogs.
Now God forbid that we should pray for a major melt down in the Arabian peninsula but any way you paint a situation where our mortal enemies and OUR major competitor in global oil markets destroy themselves without our intervention is just plain good news for western Christian oil producing nations (there’s just got to be a sin in there somewhere). And Canada is at the head of the pack when it comes to production and proven reserves amongst nominally Christian oil producing nations.
OPEC Oil Exports 2014
One can safely assume that literally anyone trying to pretend that things there will be OK and we don’t need energy independence is taking the same drugs as the Main Stream Media and the “Trump Hate” crowd.
A determined terrorist campaign in Saudi Arabia would (hopefully) completely revise the global economy. Do you think that world oil production just might be impacted by a full scale war in a more chaotic Arabian peninsula?
Do you suppose that such an event wouldn’t be great news for North American oil and coal producers? Do you think passing laws against coal and oil consumption makes the resource mysteriously disappear? Seriously folks, “Stupid is as stupid does”, and a firm belief in a fantasy no more alters reality than writing “Darkness!” on the wall of your padded cell extinguishes the Sun.
“Alberta”, Bob Dylan, from the album “Self Portrait”, (June 1970)
While the Progressives crow about our coreligionist’s lack of proof of God and the foundations for our religious beliefs, they never think to question the complete absence of any evidence for their own beliefs or, for that matter, for any intelligent consideration of the impacts of their own religious beliefs on the populations over which they claim to rule. C.S. Lewis’s mandarins of N.I.C.E. in his book “That Hideous Strength” haven’t got a patch on the modern crop of mandarins in the halls of power in our fair land.
Current reality places Canada (Alberta) as the 7th largest oil producer in the world, but three of the highest producers ahead of us on the list are Muslim nations who are prominently center stage in the chaos of the Arabian peninsula. In fact it is not unreasonable to attribute all the chaos in the geopolitical environment found today in the Arabian peninsula to the internecine rivalry between these three Muslim nations.
Countries by Oil Production – CIA factbook 2013
Any significant change in the geopolitics of the Middle East could catapult Canada (Alberta) to 4th place in the production charts at 3.6 million barrels a day after Russia, U.S.A. and China.
This in spite of the willful stupidity of her government(s). Even the NDP are essentially powerless to screw up the global economy, and I am optimistic that they will not be able to permanently damage the most productive Province in Canada.
An even more important part of the picture is the proven reserves picture. Another slice of reality is that Canada (Alberta) is currently in 3rd place after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia in proven reserves. In a world economy suddenly deprived of access to half of global energy resources “Who Ya gonna Call?”. If you are looking for stable sources for your energy supplies do you pick a nation where violence and corruption are the rule of the day, or do you pick the nation where peaceful rule of law prevails?
Now a little corruption goes a long way to grease the wheels of governance and Canada has fallen a long way from the 50’s when we had the international reputation as the most honest bureaucracy on the planet. I suspect only the slightest nudges would be necessary to move our political masters in the appropriate direction. After all, our current governments are full fledged players in the “Pay to Play” schemes historically developed in other world capitals.
It may come as a shock to some but we have enough energy reserves right here in Alberta alone, including all sources, to fuel current and projected demand in North America for the next 4 to 5 hundred years. You read that right, enough energy to fuel current and projected demand in North America for the next 4 to 5 centuries.
Back in the late 70’s early 80’s I worked as a contract administrator for a company called JOY Manufacturing. Among other things we produced electrostatic precipitators and bag filter systems for heavy industries like steel mills, foundries, paper mills and especially for coal fired electrical generation plants.
But using that clean energy technology flies in the face of the religious position of the Socialist Progressive ninnies in our governments. It’s just A-OK with them to impose their version of the “final solution” to eliminate inconvenient babies and seniors but Gaia forbid we should use clean coal technology to give every one cheap electricity.
The only thing standing in the way of Canadian global dominance in oil production is weak prices and government policy. The Venezuelan government did a pretty good job of destroying the rosy future for it’s people and Alberta’s government is looking to try the same path right now.
Given the current state of “Rule of Law” in Canada I think we are a long way from following the Venezuela model. Notwithstanding the rule of law there are still legions of zombie voters in Redmonton who could conceivably keep the NDP in power for more than 1 election. We will no doubt see that play out since we are not considering moving away just yet.
So the point of this polemic is that there are actually lots of reasons for optimism despite current conditions in the neighbourhood.
So we can pay $100.00 per month for electricity using steam , or $1200.00 per month for electricity using wind and solar. Seems like a no-brainer to me. So come on voters, we’ve had our Friday night stupidity binge, let’s change the landscape of Canadian politics and turf the Progressive parasites out.
Hence the frothing effort to discredit deniers by all the usual self interests wanting to spend trillions of other people’s dollars on their pet religion while willfully ignoring such atrocities as China’s “One Child Policy”.
This demonstrated willingness to embrace even killing the defenseless, places the climate change priests squarely alongside such Social Policy leaders as Hitler (the final solution) Stalin (Gulag re-education camps), Mao (Cultural Revolution), Pol Pot (killing fields), and so on.
