Second Thoughts … (part four) implications of the New Paradigm …

Prophecy” Adrian von Ziegler, from the album “Feather and Skull”, (2013)

(continued from my last post) the underlying thought giving rise to this post and the previous posts on the “New Paradigm” is my continuing ability to be offended by the words and actions of others with whom I have no connection whatsoever, and who, if someone asked them, would reply “Joe Who????”. Why am I annoyed with these antics?

The Dead Marshes

The Dead Marshes – from Peter Jackson’s movie “The Two Towers” based on “The Lord Of The Rings”

As I wade through my personal mental virtual reality of Frodo’s “Dead Marshes”  where the public actions of our modern Roman Curia color my faith life, I have to continually remind myself that “telling it like it is” is really only “telling it like what I think it might be”.

It’s not really “like it is” because there is no way I can know what it is. What I “think it is” is colored by my pride, my opinion, and my desires regarding what I think it “should” be.  I am completely missing the “deep” game. Only God reads the heart. In a post yesterday, related to unexpected disappointments,  Mark Mallett says:

*****

“… And then it happens. She (the cow) lifts her tail and lets it go. Fresh manure hits the straw and sprays in every direction. And there it is—melting like a chunk of butter in a pot of rice—poop in my pail.

Sacred Cows

Our Sacred Cows of Dogma, Belief, and Opinion are alive and kicking

My perfect morning was shattered. Instantly grumpy. I led her back to the corral, washed my bucket, and plumped myself down in my office to pout for a minute. But what I read next changed my mood in a hurry—a word allegedly from Momma earlier today:

… Pray for the strength of faith; trust in the love of the Heavenly Father. I am with you. I am manifesting myself to you. I am encouraging you. With immeasurable motherly love I am caressing your souls. Thank you. —Our Lady of Medjugorje to Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo, March 18th, 2018 (annual apparition)

… Our Lady reveals something crucial here. You see, every day, there is going to be poop in the pail. Another big bill. A pile of dirty dishes. An annoying co-worker. A new car repair. Another illness. Another disappointment… Faith is what says, “God has given these to me as a gift to see, first, what kind of a person I am (patient or not, charitable or not, humble or not…. etc.); and second, to test whether I really trust in Him.” Because it is not a perfect day that increases our communion with the Holy Trinity, but a death to our self-love, self-will, and desire to be God—to control everything around us…”.

*****

A priest friend of mine has remarked from time to time on his own conduct in traffic, to the effect that: “… a sure sign of one’s measure of fraternal charity is how one thinks and speaks about other drivers in traffic …”. Truer words were never spoken … how one thinks and speaks about other drivers in traffic. I am thinking that “drivers” and “traffic” are all the drivers in the traffic of life.

All of us impacting one another in a multitude of ways and the odds are astronomical that the irritation is not attributable to any malice or maleficence but simply to normal daily human self love and lack of awareness. We are simply not aware, for the most part, of our impact on others, all the other drivers on the freeway of life. We give offense without a moments thought and that offense is taken personally and grows and is passed on to yet more drivers.

Saint Teresa of Avila

Saint Teresa of Avila

Saint Teresa of Avila says that concern for their honor is the reason why many people who have devoted themselves to the spiritual life, and are very deserving on account of many good works, are still “down on earth” and never succeed in reaching the “summit of perfection”. That’s really what it is, right? I am attached to my “honor”.

What I “think it is” is colored by my pride and desires, by my concern for my honor, my opinion, and my version of reality is just that … my version … and my trust in God’s plan, much thought about, is actually missing in action. Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?

Pride, pride, pride, it is always about pride. So, back to Father Spadaro, and Anthony Annett, and the new Paradigm, and why are they pissed off with EWTN? And most importantly (for me) why does their being pissed off piss me off?

When did the Assistant to the Director of the IMF’s Communications Department get the right to make the calls on who gets censured and who gets excommunicated in the Roman Catholic Church? And why is a senior Catholic cleric agreeing with him? Well, from my last post I repeat: just who is Anthony (Tony) Annett:

*****

Tony Annett

Tony Annett

As mentioned, Tony handles outreach on the sustainable development agenda. (that’s right, Tony works for the United Nations).

And the “New Paradigm” of Pietro Cardinal Parolin, Secretary of State for the Holy See, and our Pope Francis, (aka – the Peronist  Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio)  is tied to Sustainable Development.

And Sustainable Development” is tied to the U.N. agenda of controlling the population of Africa through encouraging birth control and freely available abortion.

Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?

But … there is another view of what the U.N. is doing in Africa, and this view is not covered by Western media in any noticeable way since it flies in the face of currently fashionable Western sexual mores. One articulate presenter of that view is Obianuju Ekeocha, a native African and author. The blurb for her new book on Amazon says this:

*****

“Since the end of colonization Africa has struggled with socioeconomic and political problems. This has attracted wealthy donors from western nations, organizations and private foundations who have assumed the role of helper and deliverer.

While some donors have good intentions, there are other western “progressive” donors whose gifts to Africa are often attached to their ideology of sexual liberation.

These are the ideological neo-colonial masters of the 21st century who aggressively push into Africa their views on contraception, population control, sexualisation of children, feminism, homosexuality and abortion.

Obianuju Ekeocha, a native African and author

Obianuju Ekeocha, a native African and author

The author, a native of Africa, shows how these donors are masterful at exploiting some of the heaviest burdens and afflictions of Africa such as maternal mortality, unplanned pregnancies, HIV/AIDS pandemic, child marriage and persistent poverty.

This exploitation has put many African nations in the vulnerable position of receiving funding tied firmly to ideological solutions that are opposed to the cultural views and values of the people.

Thus many African nations are put back into the protectorate positions of dependency as new cultural standards conceived in the west are made into core policies in African capitals and the new redefined terms of the west become applied within various African ministries.

This book reveals a problematic facet of neo-colonialism that is rarely seen or talked about. Drawing from a broad array of well-sourced materials and documents, it tells the story of foreign aid gifts with strings attached, the story of Africa targeted and recolonized by wealthy powerful donors.”

*****

So Anthony (Tony) Annett is on the “other” team, the team that Uju Ekeocha is writing about in her book “Target Africa”.

Tony plays a leadership role in the Ethics in Action initiative bringing together religious leaders, academics, business and labor leaders, development practitioners, and activists to develop and promote “ethically-grounded practical solutions to sustainable development challenges“. That would include religious leaders like the senior Vatican  bureaucrats in the Pope’s “A” team.

Fr. Michael Pacwa, SJ

Fr. Michael Pacwa, SJ

Tony is one of the major leaders of the very group that Obianuju Ekeocha is writing about in her book “Target Africa: Ideological Neo-colonialism of the Twenty-first Century Paperback – February 15, 2018″

Why are major players in the Vatican cuddling up to major players in the U.N. Family Planning agenda?  Why are they supporting each other and targeting such entities as EWTN?

Do you suppose there is a connection between EWTN programming about Target Africa: Ideological Neo-colonialism of the Twenty-first Century and  the big leaders in the U.N.’s African Family Planning movement getting upset with EWTN, you know, along the lines of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend“?

Start at minute 6:53 of the YouTube video in the above link of Father Mitch talking with Obianuju Ekeocha, a native African and author of Target Africa.

Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?

Xi JinpingAnd, last but not least, I first mentioned at the very end of a previous post that there seems to be something going on in China between our “Pope for Life” the Bishop of Rome, and Xi Jinping the new President For Life” of China.

“The Guardian” is announcing that the Vatican has reached an agreement with the Peoples Republic of China.

Jorge MariCardinalBergoglio is 81 years old. Xi Jinping is 64 years old. So who do you suppose is going to control the “New Agreement” between Xi Jinping, the newPresident For Life“,  and the Pope for Life” the Bishop of Rome,  Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio  (aka Pope Francis)?

Odds are pretty good that the President For Life will outlast the “Pope for Life”  by a couple of decades at least. So who is going to manage this new relationship?

What’s not to love about this new development, the oldest organized theistic religion on the planet in bed with the oldest atheistic government on the planet with respect to the appointment of “acceptable” bishops?

I wonder what that will mean for the Catholic Church in China? Maybe Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio figures he is going to infiltrate and revolutionize Chinese society – seems a long shot from here but I suppose it is conceivable … maybe … after all, the Church has infiltrated, penetrated and converted some pretty formidable pagan empires in the past. Ever hear of the Roman Empire?

Roman Empire

Roman Empire

China, The United Nations, the Roman Catholic Church, I never thought I would see the day when one could reasonably mention all three as connected in a story that actually reflected what is going on in the world today.

Oh, I guess there is still more stuff to sink into in this “Dead Marsh” but I guess it can wait … Why do I get so offended by “the poop in the pail”?

I am giving much thinking to silence … this multiplication of feelings and complaints and dissatisfaction with the turn of events that distresses me because I place such high value on my own way of thinking, on my own point of view, my own opinion.

Yes indeed, I have a very high opinion of myself – not much immolation of self going on here … probably I should just shut up … instead of saying “NO!” just choose to say nothing at all … choose silence.

Portrait of Henri Nouwen in the 1990s by Frank Hamilton

Portrait of Henri Nouwen in the 1990s by Frank Hamilton

In The Way of the Heart”, Henri Nouwen says: “Thus, silence is the discipline by which the inner fire of God is tended and kept alive. . . . What needs to be guarded is the life of the Spirit within us. Especially we who want to witness to the presence of God’s Spirit in the world need to tend the fire within with utmost care.

It is not so strange that many ministers have become burnt-out cases, people (who) say many words and share many experiences, but in whom the fire of God’s Spirit has died and from whom not much more comes forth than their own boring, petty ideas and feelings.

Sometimes it seems that our many words are more an expression of our doubt than of our faith. It is as if we are not sure that God’s Spirit can touch the hearts of people: we have to help him out and, with many words, convince others of his power. But it is precisely this wordy unbelief that quenches the fire. . . .

Taken from: “The Power of Silence: Against the Dictatorship of Noise” by Robert Cardinal Sarah,  Ignatius Press. Kindle Edition. (para 135, locations 1233-1239)

So, maybe I should just shut up … too much talking … too much pointing … too much “Hey What’s Going On?

Cheers

03:30AM … Silence, and unanswered questions, and doubts, and “Nacht und Nebel”  or the modern variation, FUD, that is Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Hiding … Why does talking about this make me uncomfortable?

Revisiting this particular train of thought to see if it takes me anywhere new, can I see any new peaks from the metaphorical dome car on the way through the Rocky Mountains of my mind?

*****

7And the eyes of them both were opened: and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves aprons.

8And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise. 9And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou? (Genesis 3: 7-9)

*****

Where art thou? Things always seem grimmer after a relatively sleepless night … Where art thou … indeed … separated at birth … separated  ourselves … broke with our creator … self inflicted wounds … will not serve … and death entered in …

Was there ever a time in human history when mankind was not completely mired in sin and evil? Was there ever a time in human history when mankind wasn’t playing “Russian Roulette” for pride and personal ambitions and frequently blowing his own brains all over the wall of life?

Cardinal Gerhard Müller

Cardinal Gerhard Müller

I find this inner struggle of developing spiritual awareness is frequently made more difficult by the reported antics of those charged with my instruction.

Is the error, my sin in this, my curiosity, that I seek after this reporting? Or perhaps is it that I deceive myself in believing that I somehow know what is right, is this all just my pride?

I don’t know, so I cling desperately to Cardinal Gerhard Müller’s explanation that this is simply a misunderstanding. Again and again, Cardinal Müller has been the victim of criticism in some Traddy circles. This, in Father Hunwicke’s view, is totally unjustified:

*****

” …  (Müller’s) stance on Amoris Laetitia is perfectly rational and it doesn’t need guarantees of its perfect orthodoxy. His is one way to skin a cat.

4 Cardinals

His Eminence Walter Brandmüller, President emeritus of the Pontifical Commission of Historical Sciences, His Eminence Raymond Leo Burke, Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, His Eminence Carlo Caffarra, Archbishop emeritus of Bologna (Italy), and His Eminence Joachim Meisner, Archbishop emeritus of Cologne (Germany)

The other skinning method is that of the Four Cardinals (the Dubia Cardinals – two of whom have since died); to seek a clarification which will put its orthodoxy beyond the doubt which they judge some prelates and some hierarchies have created.

Each Feline Modality is directly aimed at the affirmation of the same orthodoxy. Whether as a matter of fact there is ‘doubt’ about what AL teaches, is for individuals to assess.”

*****

Or is the error in this distress, an error of my honest expectation that those who have devoted the entire course of their lives to this struggle for awareness should not have found meaningful examples and left trail blazes to guide me easily on my travel?

Or is this train of thought really just some sterile version of self-pity? This post started out as a momentary “what the heck” exclamation prompted by the latest “pontifications” emanating from the Vatican.

It seems that much of what comes out of Rome these days is a freeway to sin rather than guidance towards the good, that is, a preferred guidebook on the narrow path to Divine Intimacy.

Fear in Rome

Fear in Rome

I end up experiencing sadness instead of joy every time I wander into that neighbourhood. Continuous flashbacks to late 60’s early 70’s, and the chaotic fall-out from Vatican II.

Flashbacks to a time when, in my all-knowing youthful pride, I decided that I didn’t give a rat’s backside about the Catholic Church since they (the Curia) obviously didn’t know their own backside from a hole in the ground.

How can one reform “Truth”? Only “Not Truth” can be reformed, only “Not Truth” can give rise to “A New Paradigm”, a bureaucratic “Policy Change” with a new “Briefing Book” full of platitudes, half baked excuses and accusations.

So the post grows and grows with each new thought … again I am realizing that this spontaneous outpouring of angst is now around  5000 words and I’m still writing. Realizing, as when I first attacked this discomforting subject that it is just too long.

I have decided that this needs to be broken into multiple parts – again … like multiple therapy sessions on the couch … whoever is sitting on the chair behind my head must be VERY patient. Who knows, when we start, where the train of thought is going? Maybe it needs a disclaimer at the start of each part, or maybe a warning about toxic waste?

When the Scribes and Pharisees declared “better that one should die than that all suffer”, they were not talking about “all” the people, they were talking about all the entire crop of Scribes and Pharisees of that day …. they were talking about the “all” of themselves and the threat to their own power, pride and honor which Yeshua  embodied.

Saint Teresa of Avila says “However slight may be our concern for our reputation, if we wish to make progress in spiritual matters we must put this attachment right behind us, for if questions of honor prevail we will never make great progress or come to enjoy the real fruits of prayer, which is intimacy with God.”

The Saint also says that concern for their honor is the reason why many people who have devoted themselves to the spiritual life, and are very deserving on account of many good works, are still “down on earth” and never succeed in reaching the “summit of perfection”.

They remain mired because they are so insistent on preserving their reputation, so extremely attentive to every small point, every minor rule and little detail, so strict or exact in the observance of the formalities or amenities of conduct or actions with regards to their station in life.

To paraphrase Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, O.C.D. from the book “Divine Intimacy”:  Attachment to the things of this world, especially to our honor, is shown in all those large and small susceptibilities arising from our attitude that wishes to affirm our personality, hold onto the esteem of others and make our point of view prevail.

This attitude shows up in the various schemes, conscious and petty or not, to obtain and keep privileges and honorable positions where our own views, which we always think are good, will prevail. In this way we hope to make obvious our abilities, works, and our own personal merits which are always worthy in our own eyes.

Pride, pride, pride, it is always about pride.

Cheers

Joe

And “The Guardian” is announcing that the Vatican has reached an agreement with the Peoples Republic of China … Seriously?!  They can’t actually mean that, can they? Interesting times indeed … I wonder where this new “Orient Express” is heading?

There’s a Bad Storm Coming … part 4

(continued from part 3) …

Bob Dylan

Of course, as Bob laments in his song, The Times They Are A-Changing, but not to anything we haven’t seen before, even in our short lifetime.

C$11.So if the U.S. dollar is under threat then imagine what things are looking like for the Canadian dollar.  Anything denominated in dollars would be at risk if the dollar declines as a store of value, and derivatives of the US dollar like the C$ or the A$ are valued as a subset of the U.S.$ so we get hit even harder.

Folks on fixed or inelastic incomes get wiped out when the currency in which their incomes are denominated are wiped out. Look what happened in Wiemar Germany and the hyperinflation there, or Argentina under Peron, just to name a couple.

What we see below is a chart of world currencies against the U.S. $.

currency war212. Toronto-Dominion Bank’s TD Securities have told clients that the CAD could be in for yet more declines and only in mid-2016 will we likely see the tide finally turn in favour of the currency. At the time of publication of TD Securities report the CAD is weak following another dire economic growth reading.

“Still no growth in Canada this year, disheartening news that leaves the loonie poised to make a run at fresh decade-plus lows. Canada’s economy unexpectedly contracted 0.2 percent in May versus forecasts of a flat reading,” notes Joe Manimbo, referencing the underlying woes behind CAD under-performance.

We have to stop thinking in ways that use the fiat concept of “dollar” as a measure of value. I had a discussion not too long ago with a customer who did not appear to able to make the leap to a “dollar” as only a denomination of buying power rather than having actual intrinsic value.

Metal Farm BuildingsIf one can make that mental jump then its probably time to look for stores of “real” value rather than keeping resources in any dollar denominated security or cash. Real property and “real” assets tend to preserve value and if one can separate one’s mental connection of “dollar” to “value” it becomes a lot easier to make decisions about stores of value where “value” is defined by “buying power”, or a “production capacity”.

Silver Coin 2A “real property” store of value looks like this little farm building here, and what makes a store of value is that you can use it to make money, whatever that money happens to be, Dollars, Pounds, Fancy Sea Shells, Cigarettes, Beaver Pelts, or whatever society decides.  Homes can be a store of value but they have other factors affecting them and you can’t really use them to make money unless you are buying and selling homes as a product or service.

Real “buying power” looks like the 9999  silver coin in the image, or perhaps something like the gold coin in the other image. gold coin Or it could be gold wafers like the Valcambi wafers or just any item which society accepts in exchange for products or commodities. gold sheet

In 1965 my dad comfortably supported a family of five with a single family home and a car and few wants.  We weren’t rich but we never really went hungry or without warm clothes or shoes or any of the other “poor folks” stories popular in the media. He earned about $10,000.00 a year as a teletype technician with the Canadian Pacific Railroad.

300px-Richard_NixonThen on August 11th, 1971 Richard Milhous Nixon repudiated Bretton Woods and the gold standard. At the time gold was trading at about $35.00 U.S. for an ounce of gold. I was enjoying my first year away from home in the Navy. I phoned my dad and begged him to put everything he could into gold. He told me I was nuts, and anyway, he didn’t have much extra to put into gold so he passed.  And the rest, as they say, is history. My dad chose to believe the promises of politicians.  He chose wrong. He was a product of his generation and he still trusted his leaders. And, what about the politicians promises that devaluing the dollar would magically improve our competitive position?

During the past 44 years, the dollar has fallen in value by more than 70% against the euro/German mark and the Japanese yen. The U.S. had a modest net export surplus in 1971 before Nixon started the dollar on its downward path. Today, that deficit is over $400 billion and growing quickly. What will happen if the dollar slips out of use as the de-facto world currency?

purchasing power of US dollar _lgFinally, the dollar has done anything but keep its value. Today, the dollar is worth less than two dimes (17 cents last I checked) in buying power compared to the pre-Nixon dollar. The dollar now has only about 5 cents of buying power compared to my grandfather’s dollar. And, just 5 minutes ago the C$ spot price of gold was $1432.93 per Oz.

We are a long way from $35/Oz gold aren’t we? I sometimes wonder what my dad would say now. As the previous chart showed, the rest of the world currencies are declining against the US dollar and as this chart shows the US dollar is steadily going down. Fiat money always fails in the end.

With little reason to believe that the dollar will maintain even this paltry value, the average North American family is left with no meaningful way to save for their children’s education or their own retirement. We experience all of this in the form of financial insecurity and well-grounded anxiety about the future.

So how ya doin’ Alberta? Where is your real value kept? What are the socialist tea leaves tellin’ ya Rachel? With oil in the toilet, the dollar blowing away, no relief in sight and all your little vampire children coming home for dinner, whatcha gonna do? I am reminded of the little song “Bad Boys, Bad Boys, ” by Bob Marley. Its time for the closeted deviants of the new socialist ruling class to step out of the closet and into the light. Its time to lead, Rachel. We need more than re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic while the band plays on.

It is not popular with most folks these days, but it has never been more obvious that without God as our foundation, our Rock, there is nothing secure in the secular. And there is nothing new under the sun. There is a bad storm coming, soon.

Cheers

Joe

Russia4. The United States chose to deepen the void in bilateral relations with Moscow by expanding the sanctions list against Russian companies and individuals, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Moscow will respond to the expansion of the US sanctions list, which is destroying bilateral relations and leading to the escalation of confrontation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday. “By imposing new sanctions against Russian citizens and companies, the United States have shown once again that they have chosen the path toward deepening the confrontation,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its official website.

5. Wages and salaries in the U.S. rose in the second quarter at the slowest pace on record, dashing projections that an improving labor market would boost pay. The 0.2 percent advance was the smallest since records began in 1982 and followed a 0.7 percent increase in the first quarter, the Labor Department said Friday. The agency’s employment cost index, which also includes benefits, also rose 0.2 percent in the second quarter from the prior three months.

6.Japan’s release of pictures of Chinese construction activity in the East China Sea will only provoke confrontation between the two countries and do nothing for efforts to promote dialogue, China’s Foreign Ministry said. In a defense review this week, Japan urged Beijing to stop building oil and gas exploration platforms close to disputed waters in the East China Sea and expressed concern that Chinese drills could tap reservoirs that extend into Japan’s waters. In a statement late on Wednesday, China’s Foreign Ministry said it had every right to develop oil and gas resources in waters not in dispute that fall under its jurisdiction. …

7. The IMF has developed a reserve currency basket called SDR, or Special Drawing Rights. For the past few years, the institution has openly called for the SDR to replace the dollar as the world reserve currency. And this day is closer than anyone thinks. Barron’s has already reported that “the talk [to replace the U.S. dollar by SDRs as the world’s reserve currency] has gained momentum recently.”

8. Coming on October 2015: The IMF will complete its twice-a-decade review of the currencies that set the value of the SDR. And it’s very likely the IMF will add the Chinese yuan as an official reserve currency to the SDR basket. yuanIn the last few years, the use of the Chinese currency in international markets has already grown in a very big way. The proportion of China’s trade that’s settled in yuan has risen to about 20%. And, in the last few years, the market for bonds denominated in yuan has grown from zero to $72.9 billion. China has also signed agreements to trade the yuan freely in cities from Hong Kong and Singapore to Frankfurt and London. All these developments greatly increase the chance the IMF will include the yuan in the SDR. And that will pose a major threat to the dollar.

9. While Russia has eclipsed Saudi Arabia as China’s largest supplier of oil, China is still Saudi Arabia’s biggest customer for oil exports. Saudi Arabia feels betrayed by the U.S. détente with Iran. It no longer feels obligated to maintain the petrodollar deal worked out by Henry Kissinger in the mid-1970s that required oil to be priced in dollars. China has worked out swap lines with Switzerland that allow yuan to be swapped for Swiss francs. This means that if Saudi Arabia takes yuan for its oil, it can swap the yuan for francs, which is one of the most sound currencies. Deals of this type, including the massive Russia-China energy deal announced in June 2014, spell the end for the dollar as the leading reserve currency.

10.China is also getting ready to launch its first crude oil futures contract denominated in yuan. This will give China greater influence in global pricing of oil, putting the petrodollar in danger. And it’s not just oil. China is conducting trials to launch a yuan-backed gold pricing benchmark. This means China could soon become the price setter for gold bullion. This new Chinese gold price benchmark may be launched before the end of the year, posing another major threat to the dollar.

1. Last week, the EIA announced in its Weekly Petroleum Status Report a OIL Production Drop- OST080515_IMG1head-turning decrease of 145,000 barrels per day in U.S. onshore oil production:

I think this is a big deal that U.S. production would be rolling over in Q2 of this year. There is no way that onshore U.S. production decreased by 145,000 barrels per day week on week. This was a “catch-up” adjustment by the EIA to correct prior estimation errors. This is already happening in real time and has been for a while.

2. The International Monetary Fund has urged China to eventually unwind measures taken to stem a stock sell-off that wiped out almost $4 trillion in market value, according to a person familiar with the matter. The Washington-based fund told the Chinese government that while interventions in general are appropriate to prevent major disorder, prices should be allowed to settle through market forces, said the person, who is familiar with IMF discussions on the issue and asked not to be identified because the talks are private. China Stock market 1200x-1Chinese officials assured the lender that the measures should be considered temporary, the person said.

3. Beijing’s efforts to engineer a strong stock rally and the recent Shanghai market collapse have had quite limited effects on western markets, but going forward the fallout from Chinese market meddling will likely be less benign. Unlike western corporations, Chinese businesses are much more dependent on bank financing than selling stock to raise capital. And ordinary Chinese workers have more of their savings in banks and less in equities than Americans.

There’s a Bad Storm Coming … part 1

Bob Dylan

Of course, as Bob laments in his song, The Times They Are A-Changing, but not to anything we haven’t seen before, even in our short lifetime.

Alberta is cruising along on auto-pilot in a complete information vacuum. Not a single  peep out of the NDP or the media about what is happening since the brief flurry the week after they got elected. Where’s the budget? Where are the promises?  Where are the politicians? Is Rachel still running?  Are we there yet?

Rachel-Notley-runningFor a province which depends totally on the C$ and oil prices to keep the economy moving along and pay all the bills run up by the blood suckers we are hearing remarkably little about developments on the oil and dollar front. Is it possible that secular economic reality is getting ready to bite their socialist asses big time? One can only hope. Are we looking at blood in the streets soon?

The litany of conflict is global, and the signs are everywhere, as the “Disparate Data” posts allude to just a bit of it.  Just a top of the head lists of things that come to mind: trade conflicts, economic conflicts, ideological conflicts, societal conflicts, individual and group conflicts, religious and military conflicts, currency conflicts, and the list goes on and on.

First, we will touch briefly on religious conflicts. Nicaea_iconJust a minor religious sideshow in terms of the items which interest the secular world is the current conflict within the Roman Catholic Church, especially expressed in the conflict within the Jesuits between the traditionalists, loyal to the Church of Jesus Christ, and the progressives who express their loyalty to the church that will be (whatever that might be?). But this has been a problem for over 2000 years. Is there anything particularly special about this round of trials?

ISIS atrocities 3Another minor religious side show is the current conflict between the Islamic traditionalists of ISIS, and virtually every other Islamic group on the planet as well as everyone else, Christians, Jews, Orthodox, Yazidi, as well as groups in Asia. Of course this problem has also been around for about 1400 years. What’s new here?

Whatever your affiliations, you have to acknowledge that ISIS goes about things in a different way than the Roman Catholic Church. Who would you rather live next to?

Of course, it is a major dis-service, a major calumny, to the Roman Catholic Church even to include ISIS and the secularists and their conflicts in the same post as if there is some common ground of conflict.  That was not my intent here.

Nazi Atrocities 3The secularists are really no more than the short-sighted, disparaging narcissists, the “brights” who believe they run the “civilized” world (all the while murdering millions of babies and selling their body parts). The reality of the similarities is that the secularists are fraternal twins of the ISIS murderers. There is no significant difference between the two under the skin, excepting  possibly the use of color pictures.

Who are the secularists? Remi Brague, French Catholic philosopher and winner of the prestigious Ratzinger Prize, in a lecture at the University of St. Thomas,  suggested that the “secular” are those whose lives are defined by a horizon of a hundred years. “That is simply what the word ‘secular’ means,” he declared.

USHMM 89063 Men with an unidentified unit execute a group of Soviet civilians kneeling by the side of a mass graveIn that context it is easy to see that for the secularists, nothing of any significance has happened or exists within their horizon except themselves, and the most concentrated reign of death in the entire history of the human race.

For these accomplished proxy killers this is a perfectly natural, even normal and desirable state of affairs, as long as it doesn’t disturb their reign.

So with that for starters let’s proceed to current sources of conflict and future chaos in the world we live in with material wants and needs like groceries and gas and TV and so on.

(continued in part 2) …

Cheers

Joe
