Alas … Year End accounting is sucking up more and more of my time so instead of some new and original re-thinking of old thoughts and conclusions I will simply point here for an interesting and humorous take on our current crop of “experts” … Be Afraid!  Be Very Afraid! Bwahaha!

Of course there is always the darker side of things, if one cannot laugh at what is going on.

Living in this world it is astoundingly difficult to avoid becoming attached to the things of this world, not the least because we are almost completely unaware of those attachments unless things start going against what we want, in terms of outcomes and tastes and opinions and the physical realities of enjoyment, food, listening, seeing, entertainment, sex and other distractions, and so on and so forth.

And things have definitely not been going the way we want, ever since this whole Red Bat Flu manufactured crisis started, have they? Now we are really having our lack of distractions rubbed in our faces.

Now it would be welcome to have another get together for a fish fry or even just coffee with acquaintances. All these fellow travelers on this mortal path, more or less my age, many retired service members and/or their spouses as have survived the vicissitudes of time and we share many views and opinions, no surprise there.

Thinking about the thing which hammers home as we all age together. Death is no respecter of political or economic or moral views. Visited a seniors lodge the other day while arranging for an older person I know well to move from his current slum, into something more reasonable and reliable, and it was striking how much older than me were most of the residents … marking time … waiting for the gate, ’twas the first time I felt young in a while.

How so very many of our old friends and  acquaintances are no longer with us for these our get-togethers and coffee breaks. These days Cancer seems to be the weapon of choice of the Reaper, but Coronary Disease is the other big one, the Scylla and Charybdis of our modern end of life.

We have been completely losing that war on Cancer for well over 60 years now, billions and billions spent, and billions in profits to all the usual academic and commercial interests, and the gravy train keeps on rolling and no victory in sight and something like 95% casualty rate among the sufferers.

Now the Red Bat Flu has been turned into the NEXT BIG KILLER and used to excuse all the draconian restrictions on civil liberties and freedoms and utterly destroyed the private economy in passing.

You better damned well listen to all the little Greta(s). If you don’t maybe we’ll send you to a camp? You all need to get serious about this … Right Now … Oh Well …. Orwell … Or Else!

The only people feeling good about the Red Bat Flu are the thousands of government workers who continue to get paid their large salaries while being ordered to stay home and “babysit” their own kids because all the day-cares are closed. What a complete … “SNAFU”! … “shitshow”! … even a “clusterfuck”! .  Why is it so hard for anyone to admit that our current health models are not working?

Why is all the bitching focused on “It doesn’t make any sense…” ?  It actually all makes perfect sense when viewed through a lens that acknowledges that the Canadian government at all levels wants to move to a population control model similar to the model used in Red China.  Looked at that way, it all makes perfect sense!  Suck it up Sheeple … just get in line, do whatever you are told and STFU!

Is there a re-education camp in your future?  Who knows … we have been here before but back then it was a crime, of course back then killing children and seniors was a crime as well, and so was illicit anal sex with members of the same gender …  hmmmmm.

Thank God that death plays no favorites …death claims the virtuous and the deviant, the affluent and the poor, the liberal socialist and the conservative capitalist, the religious and the secular, the parent and the child … death comes for us all … often when we are really not ready to depart.

The only thing that seems to stand out is that those who believe in eternity and live accordingly have Hope. The rest do not, just a grim journey down into despair, and all the “stuff” we spent our lives for has no saving grace at all. What do you see at the end? Are you (as I once wrote) “A cloistered parenthesis of tawdry trepidation staring runny-eyed into the black chasm of the banal”,

or are you like Pippin …

“PIPPIN: I didn’t think it would end this way. GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what? GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn’t so bad. GANDALF: No. No, it isn’t.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings.

Puts one in a reflective head-space to consider all this.

The Return of the King … Sheepdogs and Donkeys … part 3 …

Twilight And Shadow”, Howard Shore, from “Lord Of The Rings

Remember … back before “Social Distancing”?

It should be very obvious to everyone who has even one eye and ear open, and with our most important continuous droning media event being the ongoing FUD drama of our “made-in-government” Red Bat Flu pandemic, that ‘Evil” exists. There are lots of places where good is absent.

There are places where government control includes killing regular folks on a regular basis out in the open, but in most places, in the West, that all happens in the shadows. Our government kills about a million of us a year but it is all covered up in euphemisms and double speak and buried in our health care stats.

You better believe it, and we don’t even have to look overseas to find them.  There are lots of evil men in this world and they are capable of horribly evil deeds. If you forget that or pretend, as so many do, it is not true, that evil doesn’t exist, you self select for the sheep team.

As David Warren writes:

“The daily count of deaths from the Red Chinese Batflu is among the prized, scare-mongering features of our mass media. I am among those who consider these numbers to be significantly overstated, for a reason that Nikolai Gogol would understand.

Each corpse is worth cash to some public authority, usually from a higher authority; and as always, finally from the taxpayers. Each also saves money for government programmes, that can be reallocated to the purchase of new votes. As the corpse providers from this virus are very old, and suffering from other life-threatening conditions, in almost every case, this statistical inflation is easy to perform.

Death certificates are issued for any who died with “Covid-19,” whether or not they died from it, and more are then added of those who were never tested. Anything respiratory will do. It’s all judgement calls — on which side of the bread is buttered.

Compare if you will the Hong Kong Flu of 1968 and 1969. I was just reading a memoir, from down that memory hole. The death toll was actually higher then, than ours is now, and from within a smaller population; the victims included children and the young. Yet there were no interruptions in economic life; no public emergency theatricals; and at the height of the second wave of that scourge, we had events like Woodstock. (Those were the days, my friend.)”

And for all of us, there is no safety in denial. No refuge in refusing to see, and no insult or belittling about this. It is simply choosing to live in reality, or denying reality.  Most of the people in our society are sheep. Most of the people live in denial. As I have said previously, they are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident. There is no mortal malice in them.

The truth is, our society is like “… the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey, and someday it may grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell“. LTC (RET) Dave Grossman,  author of “On Killing.”   If you find you can handle that book then check out “On Combat”  and The Bulletproof Mind.  Soldiers, sailors, Police officers, Firemen, Para-medics and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful, a civilization that they protect from the enemy, the wolves.

So, for example, I have a little flash-back from over 40 years ago when I routinely spent over 300 days a year at sea because the Liberal guv’mint, the red jackals of the Cold War, saw us as the problem and ran us permanently at less than half strength, under paid, and under supplied, doing everything in their legal power to deplete us, the better to hinder the Americans, while still demanding that we give them cover by “doing everything, with nothing, forever”:

The Naval Prayer

O Eternal Lord God,
who alone rulest the raging of the sea;
who has compassed the waters with bounds
until day and night come to an end;
be pleased to receive into Thy almighty and most gracious protection
the persons of us Thy servants,
and the Fleet in which we serve.

Preserve us from the dangers of the sea,
and from the violence of the enemy;
that we may be a safeguard unto our most gracious Sovereign Lady,
Queen Elizabeth,
and her Dominions,
and a security for such as pass upon the seas upon their lawful occasions;
that the inhabitants of our Commonwealth may in peace and quietness
serve Thee our God;
and that we may return in safety
to enjoy the blessings of the land,
with the fruits of our labours,
and with a thankful remembrance of Thy mercies
to praise and glorify Thy Holy Name;
Amen.

First published in 1662 in the Book of Common Prayer,
The Naval Prayer has remained mostly unchanged since then,
with the exception of a change to the name of the monarch

That comes under the heading of “Tradition”. To stand between the pretty blue egg and the enemy. To be a safeguard and a security. To serve the Master, the True Good Shepherd.

Lobos Vestido de Oveja

And the enemies of that pretty blue egg are all around, in the form of the usual legion of killers and terrorists, and criminals, and so on.

But there are others in the shadows, even more dangerous, enemies, “stealth” enemies, the jackals in the deadly 5th column of gov’mint officials, and teachers, and administrators, and unionists, and economists, and central bankers, and politicians, and bureaucrats, and the state sponsored media,  who want to keep the sheep under control and stupid so that  they can turn them into lamb-chops – metaphorically of course – after all, where do taxes come from?

It was a sad day, and also a most important day in my military service when I realized, like a blast of lightning, one dark day of storm, in the Baltic Sea, that the most dangerous enemy we faced was back home in the Capital and the Administration. A shocking and saddening realization that the chestless ones, our leaders and intellectuals and academics and media wankers thought of us,  the security, the guys and gals in uniform,  as “the enemy”. Because they chose the “self interest” side of the coin (see previous post) and they had subverted the polity. That they had mutinied against the True King, our Master and now served only themselves.

Greta … a perfectly molded child, eh?

So how did teachers make the list above? Let me be clear, there are indeed many teachers who have done and continue do exemplary service to and for the people they teach. I am NOT talking about those teachers. I included teachers in the list above because the good teachers have been eclipsed by the “Teachers” the administrators and unionists who  collude in this process of subversion as the first line of indoctrination, because their “careers” depend on it and they are highly rewarded for “buying into the meme”.

They are the primary interface between young folks and the gov’mint. They “teach” young people to become sheep, scorn their family, revere their peers and the power teachers at the top of their social pyramid, or at least weed out the non-sheep as “trouble-makers”.  We give our children to these minions, most of whom have never done anything in their lives except go to school, first as students and then as teachers.

They know nothing of real life in the trenches, always part of the Kool crowd, no sacrifice, no self determination, but they have indeed drunk deeply of the chestless Kool-Aid and got their tickets punched by the right authorities  These very well paid know-nothings are now, for the last two or three generations, given our children by our masters to mold as the bad shepherds see fit.

Can anyone remember “1984”? Big Brother knows best …

Teachers in sheep’s clothing, to instruct the young, not in the higher things of life like values and ethics and morals, but rather to turn them into good little compliant, consuming, self centered, lamb-chops who won’t ask questions and will more or less do as they are told by their enlightened betters.  BAAAA!  Everybody Stay Home! BOHICA!

Then there are the legions of administrators who have the power to punish the sheep if they fail to “get in line”.

And then you have the central bankers and gov’mint ministers who have the power (for example) to create fiat money at will with printing presses and thereby deplete and dilute the savings and destroy the security of the sheep at will, and many other shady evils which it would take several posts to go into so I will leave that for another day.

On the bright side, there are the donkeys. … luv those donkeys …

To be continued …

Cheers

Joe

Newsweek Article about Dr. Fauci …

Just found an interesting article at Newsweek Magazine “DR. FAUCI BACKED CONTROVERSIAL WUHAN LAB”  and am reposting it here, in its entirety, minus all the adds and pop-ups because these sort of reports have a habit of being removed from the web quickly. Enjoy …

WORLD
DR. FAUCI BACKED CONTROVERSIAL WUHAN LAB WITH MILLIONS OF U.S. DOLLARS FOR RISKY CORONAVIRUS RESEARCH
BY FRED GUTERL ON 4/28/20 AT 2:57 PM EDT

Dr. Anthony Fauci is an adviser to President Donald Trump and something of an American folk hero for his steady, calm leadership during the pandemic crisis. At least one poll shows that Americans trust Fauci more than Trump on the coronavirus pandemic—and few scientists are portrayed on TV by Brad Pitt.

But just last year, the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the organization led by Dr. Fauci, funded scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and other institutions for work on gain-of-function research on bat corona viruses.

In 2019, with the backing of NIAID, the National Institutes of Health committed $3.7 million over six years for research that included some gain-of-function work. The program followed another $3.7 million, 5-year project for collecting and studying bat coronaviruses, which ended in 2019, bringing the total to $7.4 million.

Many scientists have criticized gain of function research, which involves manipulating viruses in the lab to explore their potential for infecting humans, because it creates a risk of starting a pandemic from accidental release.

SARS-CoV-2 , the virus now causing a global pandemic, is believed to have originated in bats. U.S. intelligence, after originally asserting that the coronavirus had occurred naturally, conceded last month that the pandemic may have originated in a leak from the Wuhan lab. (At this point most scientists say it’s possible—but not likely—that the pandemic virus was engineered or manipulated.)

Dr. Fauci did not respond to Newsweek’s requests for comment. NIH responded with a statement that said in part: “Most emerging human viruses come from wildlife, and these represent a significant threat to public health and biosecurity in the US and globally, as demonstrated by the SARS epidemic of 2002-03, and the current COVID-19 pandemic…. scientific research indicates that there is no evidence that suggests the virus was created in a laboratory.”

The NIH research consisted of two parts. The first part began in 2014 and involved surveillance of bat coronaviruses, and had a budget of $3.7 million. The program funded Shi Zheng-Li, a virologist at the Wuhan lab, and other researchers to investigate and catalogue bat coronaviruses in the wild. This part of the project was completed in 2019.

A second phase of the project, beginning that year, included additional surveillance work but also gain-of-function research for the purpose of understanding how bat coronaviruses could mutate to attack humans. The project was run by EcoHealth Alliance, a non-profit research group, under the direction of President Peter Daszak, an expert on disease ecology.

NIH canceled the project just this past Friday, April 24th, Politico reported. Daszak did not immediately respond to Newsweek requests for comment.

The project proposal states: “We will use S protein sequence data, infectious clone technology, in vitro and in vivo infection experiments and analysis of receptor binding to test the hypothesis that % divergence thresholds in S protein sequences predict spillover potential.”

In layman’s terms, “spillover potential” refers to the ability of a virus to jump from animals to humans, which requires that the virus be able to attach to receptors in the cells of humans. SARS-CoV-2, for instance, is adept at binding to the ACE2 receptor in human lungs and other organs.

According to Richard Ebright, an infectious disease expert at Rutgers University, the project description refers to experiments that would enhance the ability of bat coronavirus to infect human cells and laboratory animals using techniques of genetic engineering. In the wake of the pandemic, that is a noteworthy detail.

Ebright, along with many other scientists, has been a vocal opponent of gain-of-function research because of the risk it presents of creating a pandemic through accidental release from a lab.

Dr. Fauci is renowned for his work on the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1990s. Born in Brooklyn, he graduated first in his class from Cornell University Medical College in 1966. As head of NIAID since 1984, he has served as an adviser to every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan.

A decade ago, during a controversy over gain-of-function research on bird-flu viruses, Dr. Fauci played an important role in promoting the work. He argued that the research was worth the risk it entailed because it enables scientists to make preparations, such as investigating possible anti-viral medications, that could be useful if and when a pandemic occurred.

The work in question was a type of gain-of-function research that involved taking wild viruses and passing them through live animals until they mutate into a form that could pose a pandemic threat. Scientists used it to take a virus that was poorly transmitted among humans and make it into one that was highly transmissible—a hallmark of a pandemic virus. This work was done by infecting a series of ferrets, allowing the virus to mutate until a ferret that hadn’t been deliberately infected contracted the disease.

The work entailed risks that worried even seasoned researchers. More than 200 scientists called for the work to be halted. The problem, they said, is that it increased the likelihood that a pandemic would occur through a laboratory accident.

Dr. Fauci defended the work. “… determining the molecular Achilles’ heel of these viruses can allow scientists to identify novel antiviral drug targets that could be used to prevent infection in those at risk or to better treat those who become infected,” wrote Fauci and two co-authors in the Washington Post on December 30, 2011. “Decades of experience tells us that disseminating information gained through biomedical research to legitimate scientists and health officials provides a critical foundation for generating appropriate countermeasures and, ultimately, protecting the public health.”

Nevertheless, in 2014, under pressure from the Obama administration, the National of Institutes of Health instituted a moratorium on the work, suspending 21 studies.

Three years later, though—in December 2017—the NIH ended the moratorium and the second phase of the NIAID project, which included the gain-of-function research, began. The NIH established a framework for determining how the research would go forward: scientists have to get approval from a panel of experts, who would decide whether the risks were justified.

The reviews were indeed conducted—but in secret, for which the NIH has drawn criticism. In early 2019, after a reporter for Science magazine discovered that the NIH had approved two influenza research projects that used gain of function methods, scientists who oppose this kind of research excoriated the NIH in an editorial in the Washington Post.

“We have serious doubts about whether these experiments should be conducted at all,” wrote Tom Inglesby of Johns Hopkins University and Marc Lipsitch of Harvard. “With deliberations kept behind closed doors, none of us will have the opportunity to understand how the government arrived at these decisions or to judge the rigor and integrity of that process.”

*****

These days I am crawling down some old rabbit holes that seem to hide evidence of Dr. Fauci being involved in the creation of the HIV/AIDS pandemic through research into Retro-Viruses at . The HIV/AIDS epidemic which we were all very familiar with, as we remember, got blamed on a homosexual Swedish airline host who picked it up in Africa somewhere.

Just a little rough patch

Palm Sunday, and Holy Week … (without churches)

The Beatitudes”, from the album “Biscantorat – The Sound Of The Spirit From Glenstal Abbey” – The Monks of Glenstal Abbey – (2009)

Glenstal Abbey House

Yesterday I traveled around to various small shops in our local area. Found, to my surprise, that there is a common silver lining to this pandemic panic, that being that, courtesy of all the “nonessential services” being closed in all the larger centers.

Folks are returning to the shops which they used to frequent decades ago before everyone decided to go to the nearest city to visit McDonalds, and Timmy’s, and Wendy’s, and Superstore, and Walmart, and so on and so forth.

Social distancing and restricted access have left folks without a “activity” destination.

Of course, I still have a problem with Church and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass being classed as a “non-essential” service along with night clubs and sports events, while liquor stores and marijuana shops are staying open as “essential”.

Seems deeply perverted from where I sit, but that is the Canadian way, eh? Maybe it’s because the Liquor stores and Marijuana shops are government sponsored avenues of moral dissolution but church worship is the enemy … that’s very Canadian as well, isn’t it?

Just listen to Justin and the rest, and do whatever you are told and everything will be OK, right? So between his Chinese contacts and his Soros instructions he should have all the answers about controlling his population during this Red Bat Flu epidemic.

His marriage is a failure … but we trust him to run the country, and handle the pandemic? hmmmm

And if you have the slightest doubts about anything, just ask my sister, whose current big city opinion is that “This whole thing is really serious and it is caused by people (that would be us rurals) not taking isolation seriously.

She watched a televised 3 hour Ontario government press conference on the weekend and now knows everything that anyone needs to know. She has stopped talking about how she got stranded in Roatan for a while because it turned out that her opinion at that time about the seriousness of the pandemic was wrong.

I guess that is what it takes to get through the BS. All the restaurants closed and no one at the resort, and multiple teams of Honduran military men in surgical masks and armed with automatic weapons, ordering everyone out of the water and off the beaches and off the streets.

Oh well, that was then and it doesn’t matter now. Now it is all the fault of all those little people out there who never left the country for their vacation, who are not taking it seriously, because it can’t be travelers going on their vacations in spite of all the warnings. Oh, and also … The Chinese have stopped it cold and everyone is recovering over there because they are able to force their population to comply with the isolation restrictions. Good Job  and kudos to the Chinese Communist Party for keeping all the little prolls in line.

Meanwhile, back here in The Shire, for local meat shops, and small country stores, and rural CO-OPs, and family farm businesses, the pandemic has provided a welcome shot in the economic arm as the customers return in droves and are surprised that we have what they are looking for (mostly) or a close equivalent, and they don’t have to spend hours driving and $50 bucks or so on gas to go shopping in a city somewhere.

And things are pretty much unchanged in the rurals, with no line-ups, no serious shortages, and personal attention from people you actually know, and no problems. The smaller the town the safer it is, if your biggest fear is catching the latest plague from some coughing plague carrier. Yes, “The Shire” really is the best place to live. Just ask Baggins.

We Happy Few …

So life in the country goes on pretty much as normal except for the proliferation of plastic counter barriers and a lot of people wearing nitrile gloves because their hands are drying out from using hand sanitizer so often. As my dad would remark, if a meteor struck Toronto nothing would change in the slightest in the rurals. I guess he was right.

On the other hand, as noted earlier, my family relatives in the big cities across the country have started blaming the pandemic on “people not taking isolation seriously” courtesy of the important wisdom and “factual” information from televised government press conferences and the latest terror being passed on by various Health “Authorities” on their local TV channels. So now the Red Bat Flu (RBF) is our fault for not taking their fear seriously, in between blaming everything on Trump.

As I posted previously, we now have a golden God given opportunity to LOVE. Love like never before as humans. This brief opportunity we have before us right now is to pray for the conversion of those who have rejected God’s Love in pursuit of their worship of self, of the “goods and gods” of this world, now showing to be frighteningly thread-bare in the face of the Red Bat Flu.

So how to deal with the scorn and approbation of our relatives and contacts and the rest of our “Betters”? Well, accept the cross. We are being given an opportunity not to act like the elder brother in that parable who is bitter toward his prodigal brother and would prefer justice. No, let us fast and pray that the lost will be found and the blind may see again!

I feel compassion right now for my big city sisters and the rest of the big city relates who know best what everyone else “should be doing”, and all the Social Media opinion makers, the Facebook Monkey Tribes, and all the artists, and writers, and actors, and entertainers, and yes, even all the talking heads and experts so in love with themselves and their own opinions, even if their “original” thoughts come out of a script written by someone much further up the food chain. They seem to be, well, just scared out of their nickers.

I want them to know, if any are reading this, that they are loved with an eternal love. God loves you all. God knew you before He formed you in your mother’s womb, and even though your medical system kills a hundred thousand of you every day, He knew that you would be one of the survivors. I want you to know that God the Father wants to wrap you in His enormous tender arms. Soon, the masks and facades will all fall away and God is going to ask not who you were, but WHO ARE YOU?

Cheers

Joe
