Brian Bethune?

So you don’t believe there is an anti-Christian agenda in Canada?  So how about a cover headline from 3 years years ago in Mcleans Magazine, THE “flagship” of Canadian “Journalism”.

Here I found an article by someone claiming to be a journalist writing for Mcleans magazine. Funny thing though, can’t seem to find anything else about him/her anywhere.

Is he/she real? Is he a nom du plume? Is he a paid shill for progressive shadow players? Who knows. I guess one has to live in Toronto to get a clue, eh? Interesting reading, though, for any central Canadian “Brights”, those leading, bleeding edges of secular Progressivism in this country who just can’t seem to stop recycling these old stories debunking Christian beliefs … and why Christians?

Maybe because they know that Christians won’t shoot them or blow them up, or burn them alive, or stone them in the public square, or drown them in cages, or visit their offices for a little tete-a-tete? Do you suppose those considerations don’t enter into the editor’s thoughts when considering provocative material to publish … how about some equal coverage for the other monotheistic religions, eh, Mcleans?

How about it, Brian Bethune?  I completely understand, and even sympathize somewhat, with your bread and butter being the provocation of the target audience du jour as vetted by your editors. That is “journalism’s” function, after all, as one thinks about the traditional Broadsheets of yore, they exist to stir things up and see what new smells rise to the top.

In a quaint way, I guess I am a throwback, but I just happen to believe that justice requires treating all players “equally” and “fairly”. These are supposed to be THE Canadian values, right?  So how about it? Are you going to leave it all up to French Journalists like those at Charlie Hebdo? Would this be too much to ask of Canada’s “National” magazine? The French Surrender Taint runs deep in Canada  so shouldn’t Canadian “journalists” show at least the courage of their Froggie cousins across the pond? Naah … I guess when the rubber hits the road Canadian journalists and their masters would rather duck and cover and put their butts in the air.

From the front page article in question:

There is a twist in the tale, though, and frailty of human memory turned out to be more profound than Ehrman suspected or, perhaps, welcomed. His eye-opening “Jesus Before the Gospels: How the Earliest Christians Remembered, Changed, and Invented Their Stories of the Savior”  may prove most useful for those who hold to a position Ehrman finds more wrong-headed than insistence on the Bible’s literal truth. The reason Biblical historians cannot find even the outline of a historical Jesus, argues an increasingly persuasive chorus of challengers, is that there is nothing to find: Jesus Christ never lived at all.”

Of course, does it need to be mentioned that Bart Denton Ehrman (born October 5, 1955) has made a hugely successful career out of “proving” that Jesus Christ never existed. and he is one of the darlings of the Progressive Pantheon … for agnostics and atheists (really the same thing) he “walks on water” no wait a minute, that was someone else wasn’t it?

OMG!!!! WHO KNEW?  Gee, Brian, or whoever you are, good thing for Mcleans and their staffers that they have an atheist anti-christian scholar with the street cred of Bart Denton Ehrman  to do all the heavy lifting for them. It’s pretty damned certain that he is several standard deviations above the average intelligence level of the “journalists” at our flagship Canadian fish-wrap.

It is also a very damned good thing for the Mcleans editorial offices that Christians don’t exercise the same policy prerogatives as Islamics. Yup, sure a good thing, that the Christians are the real deal when it comes to the “Religion of Peace”. Love your enemies, turn the other cheek, Father forgive them, they know not what they do. Yup, a real good thing.

On the Way Of The Cross, Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles

Seriously? 2000 or so years on and still they strive stridently to proclaim “There is no God, Christ is a lie!” Even the Roman Empire failed to deny Christ and this country, for all it’s jingoistic bombast trying to ape the American colossus to the south or desperately denying any connection, depending on the party currently in occupation, is but a pale sickly shadow of that famous empire, filled with pale imitations of men called “managers”.

Strawman

Joe?

Anyway, here’s some gratuitous “Ad Hominum” in the spirit of “tit-for-tat”. That’s a really interesting article, Brian. Your bio picture is one of 50 shades of grey haired tired compromise, your soul pawned to the highest bidder and that final personal reckoning coming ever closer regardless of your desperate tap-dancing.

Is that really even a picture of you or is it some special effect photo-shopped in the studio you work in, some “Resident-Evil” twist of zeros and ones. Whatever it is, it’s a good job, well rendered, a kind of brooding dignity in the greying eminence of your brow, the eyes fixed upon the viewer with unwavering judgement. So much more dignified than my own effort to the left.

I wonder what kind of twist the tale of the “Life of Brian” would take if he were to seriously suggest that “Mohammad never lived at all”.

Com’on Brian, how about it, aren’t you still wearing your “Je Suis Charlie” T-Shirt in the copy room these days? Nahh, I didn’t think so. That’s just so “yesterday” right? And who reads Mcleans outside of Toronto anyway? Yea, Toronto, … a pretty safe beat for beating up Christians and Albertans if I do say so.

Cool courage doesn’t get any cooler than this, that one give up his latte to make his deadline. But Islam, … Islam, … that gives you chills now doesn’t it? Islam might reach right into your comfortable inner city Toronto digs and share their pain. Islam, the sibilant sssss just before the sudden ssslam! Yessssss chills. It tickles my dark side, my prescioussss. You just have to respect their commitment to their truth even if you disagree with their methods.

The Banks of Green Willow, Vaughan Williams, London Symphony Orchestra

inspiration-cslewisquoteThe Islamics would even agree with Lewis’s quote (right), and their belief has teeth! Only a believer could hope to understand another believer. The secular progressives in the high towers today have no clue and even less hope.

So how about “In your country, Venerable Brethren, voices are swelling into a chorus urging people to leave the Church, and among the leaders there is more than one whose official position is intended to create the impression that this infidelity to Christ the King constitutes a signal and meritorious act of loyalty to the modern State.

Secret and open measures of intimidation, the threat of economic and civic disabilities, bear on the loyalty of certain classes of Catholic functionaries, a pressure which violates every human right and dignity. ”  para 21, Mit Brennender Sorge

and

It is on faith in God, preserved pure and stainless, that man’s morality is based. All efforts to remove from under morality and the moral order the granite foundation of faith and to substitute for it the shifting sands of human regulations, sooner or later lead these individuals or societies to moral degradation. The fool who has said in his heart “there is no God” goes straight to moral corruption (Psalms xiii. 1), and the number of these fools who today are out to sever morality from religion, is legion.”para 29, Mit Brennender Sorge

Mulcair_810_500_55_s_c1What about this article from four years ago – Gee!  Who knew? :  “NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario, September 9, 2015 (LifeSiteNews)New Democrat federal leader Thomas Mulcair was defending his senior communications director after he hit the national spotlight yesterday when two-year-old tweets surfaced in which he viciously attacked the Catholic Church, the pope, and Catholic moral teachings.” and these are the same people who have been running Alberta for the last four years!  Questions anyone?  Guess who has been writing government policy and guidelines in Alberta?  Anyone? Anyone? Will Jason change anything now that he has “power” or will he just quietly let it ride as has happened so often in the past and spend his time sabre rattling about pipelines and Federal policy disputes? My money is on “let it ride”.

But “They either do not see or refuse to see that the banishment of confessional Christianity, i.e., the clear and precise notion of Christianity, from teaching and education, from the organization of social and political life, spells spiritual spoliation and degradation. …  To hand over the moral law to man’s subjective opinion, which changes with the times, instead of anchoring it in the holy will of the eternal God and His commandments, is to open wide every door to the forces of destruction.

The resulting dereliction of the eternal principles of an objective morality, which educates conscience and ennobles every department and organization of life, is a sin against the destiny of a nation, a sin whose bitter fruit will poison future generations.” para 29, Mit Brennender Sorge

and

” … Human laws in flagrant contradiction with the natural law are vitiated with a taint which no force, no power can mend. In the light of this principle one must judge the axiom, that “right is common utility,” a proposition which may be given a correct significance, it means that what is morally indefensible, can never contribute to the good of the people. But ancient paganism acknowledged that the axiom, to be entirely true, must be reversed and be made to say: “Nothing can be useful, if it is not at the same time morally good” (Cicero, De Off. ii. 30). … ” para 30, Mit Brennender Sorge

Spark's Street

Spark’s Street? North American capital of Murder Inc.? Or is this somewhere in the dark night of Mordor east of the pond and the channel?

It has been 13 years since the Netherlands became the first country to legalize euthanasia. In that time, the practice has become legal in Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and in five U.S. states (Washington, Oregon, Vermont, Montana, and New Mexico). At the time I said “It’s coming to Canada too, but Canada always lags the Dutch by about ten years”. Because “managers” always want to cover their backsides, don’t rush things, wait ’til the public are “ready” to legalize killing inconvenient grownups eh?

In the first week of February 2016, Canada joined the growing pack, pretty much on schedule for that range of prognostication. Jackals scrounging the scraps left by the Hyenas, except perhaps we are giving Jackals and Hyenas a bad rap here, for they are only fulfilling their proper function in the Divine plan while our masters deny the Divine and have set themselves up as little tin gods unto themselves to run our lives for their own benefit in ever more granular regulations piled upon regulations like the Scribes and Pharisees of old.

In a previous post I linked to David Warren posting this: “the Ottawa government’s impending “euthanasia” legislation. This our parliament was ordered to write and pass by Canada’s supreme court: a junta of nine who are a law unto themselves. The parliamentary committee discussing the matter, now dominated by the liberal party, has made recommendations such as forcing all doctors and other medical staff to participate in the killings; and arranging for children and the mentally ill to be terminated on the advice of one “care giver” or another. It is a monstrous, unambiguously evil measure they are contemplating — which, like abortion, targets the defenseless”.

Aki, Inner Thoughts, Rodrigo Rodriguez

Although the new ruling states that all patients in Canada are entitled to a physician-assisted suicide, their condition must meet certain criteria for them to eligible. For example, the law (yet unwritten) states that “patients must be of adult age and must be assessed by a doctor to be mentally competent and capable of giving consent“, Common Dreams reported.

How can “Common Dreams” report on laws which have yet to be written or enacted or on regulations yet to be written and implemented? This statement just serves to give cover to the faceless ones while they work their evil.

Cheers

Second Thoughts on A New Paradigm? (part 5)

Michi Haruka”, by Kobudo, from the album “Ototabi”  (2013)

So the last few posts have been focused on the reported goings on in the Roman Curia, the Vatican, and a few other items which I believe might give rise to problematic behaviour amongst the leaders and faithful of our One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. In the back of my mind, I am hearing ” 20Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.” (Mathew 7) but also I hear “1Judge not, that you may not be judged,” (Mathew 7)

The latest event of note seems to reflect on the integrity of Vatican media and possible Vatican indulgence in “Fake News” even though Pope Francis is on record as having serious problems with secular media and their fake news. The two links below go to the news article in the Waco Tribune-Herald:

Rome

Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt … well, it works in California.

My understanding of these  things finds some resonance in the story of Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago and their refusal to accept false gods in the book of Daniel. In scripture, King Nebuchadnezzar commanded a new way of worship and belief as:

15Now therefore if you be ready at what hour soever you shall hear the sound of the trumpet, flute, harp, sackbut, and psaltery, and symphony, and of all kind of music, prostrate yourselves, and adore the statue which I have made: but if you do not adore, you shall be cast the same hour into the furnace of burning fire: and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand?

16Sidrach, Misach, and Abdenago answered and said to King Nabuchodonosor: We have no occasion to answer thee concerning this matter. 17For behold our God, whom we worship, is able to save us from the furnace of burning fire, and to deliver us out of thy hands, O king. 18But if he will not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not worship thy gods, nor adore the golden statue which thou hast set up.
(Daniel 3:15-18) Douay-Rheims Bible

And in the book of Genesis we see how the father of lies works through Gnosis, through man’s desire to be like God through interpretation and gaining knowledge

1Now the serpent was more subtle than any of the beasts of the earth which the Lord God made. And he said to the woman: Why hath God commanded you, that you should not eat of every tree of paradise? …  the tree which is in the midst of paradise, God hath commanded us that we should not eat; and that we should not touch it, lest perhaps we die.

4And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death. 5For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil. …  7And the eyes of them both were opened: and when they perceived themselves to be naked, they sewed together fig leaves, and made themselves aprons.

8And when they heard the voice of the Lord God …  Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise. 9And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou?
(Genesis 3:1-9) Douay-Rheims Bible

Whither art thou … indeed … separated at birth … separated  ourselves … broke with our creator … self inflicted wounds … will not serve … and death entered in. But it is all a misunderstanding, isn’t it? At times it is easy to shy at shadows, to take some things personally when it is just men being men, as they have been for thousands of years. And again I find myself pondering Gerhard Cardinal Müller’s explanation that this apparent controversy in the Catholic Church is simply a misunderstanding.

Gerhard Cardinal Müller

Gerhard Cardinal Müller

Yes, a misunderstanding by the hypersuperueberpapalists, the  Bergoglio clique, the “cool” crowd,  in this high school melodrama, the clique embracing the most problematic heretical grouping currently at work in the Church Militant.

On the other hand, there also seems to be a misunderstanding on the part of those who have been resisting the Nomenklatura of the “New Paradigm”. The “Traddies”, subject of much vilification by the “Nomenklatura”, seem to have missed the memo.

The memo regarding the Nomenklatura, and rope, and hanging themselves and the curious silence, or lack of clarity, on the part of the reigning Holy Father on virtually everything concerning the controversies arising since he was elected. What’s with that, eh? The Roman Catholic Church is not and never has been a product of the Roman Curia. And yet, concern enters in. I am not alone in experiencing uncertainty, doubt and frustration … with … what?

Code-Canon-Law-Annotated

Code-Canon-Law-Annotated

In my own defense before proceeding further, I appeal to Canon 212, paragraph 3, in my copy of “Code of Canon Law Annotated”, 2004, from the University of Navarra, Faculty of Canon Law: “§3. According to the knowledge, competence, and prestige which they possess, they have the right and even at times the duty to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church and to make their opinion known to the rest of the Christian faithful, without prejudice to the integrity of faith and morals, with reverence toward their pastors, and attentive to common advantage and the dignity of persons.”

So, uncertainty, doubt and frustration with … I don’t know what … calmer, likely more pious heads, urge caution and restraint. In the tradition of Aquinas we might, no, must give the fullest charitable interpretation of motives while pointing out the observed inconsistencies separating the “New Paradigm” from the Tradition, the Magisterium, the Teachings as protected, conserved, and handed down by every Pope for 2000 years.

Pope Francis has not actually “officially” commanded a specific change in direction. He has refrained from ordering the Body of Christ, the laity, to follow the interpretations and instructions coming from the Progressive Nomenclatura. Everything is couched in obscure references to good will and mercy and being sensitive to the circumstances of those with difficulties. This soft soap approach reminds me of the way “Liberation Theology” was explained to the faithful in South America. Remember “Liberation Theology” in the 70’s? More on that little kettle of fish later.

That seems to be why the Dubia Cardinals and others are asking for clarification and warning that ubiquitous errors in teaching are difficult to fix once they become entrenched. They are warning about a repeat of “the Spirit of Vatican II”.

"Well, it could be a rabbit in disguise..." (but most likely it isn't)

“Well, it could be a rabbit in disguise…” (but most likely it isn’t)

But, all my life I have mostly followed the maxim “if it looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck,  and it talks like a duck, then it is likely a duck”.  And a lifetime of experience tells me I will sooner or later have to  make duck soup, or be faced with a monumental clean-up.

I am a survivor of Vatican II and the Canadian Council of Catholic Bishops and their Winnipeg Statement of September 27th 1968. Been there, done that, got the T Shirt. Cognitive dissonance is an insidious poison … a poorly formed conscience and lack of clarity can and does lead many away from the narrow path to the broad highway.

We certainly have lack of clarity and direction and when was the last time you met a “well formed conscience” in the last three generations or so? I think “conscience” requires knowledge of self, and knowledge of good and evil, both apparently and singularly lacking in the majority of players these days. Every new deviance has become “a matter of conscience.”

And instead of “grace abounding everywhere,” we have the laughter of hyenas. That mocking laughter, which echoes down the corridors from 1968, our very own V-II weapon of Mass destruction, proves that conscience isn’t working, and hasn’t been working for a long time. From the Winnipeg Statement a multi-lane freeway of deviance straight into the dock at Amoris Laetitia.

Published two months after Humanae Vitae, the Winnipeg Statement was an attempt by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops to address widespread concern within the (Canadian) Church (clergy and religious) about the prohibition of all forms of artificial contraception, and to counsel its members (priests and religious) on how to respond to those who have difficulty (parishioners) accepting the directives. The Winnipeg Statement:

*****

… recognized that “a certain number of Catholics”, in spite of being bound by the encyclical, find it “either extremely difficult or even impossible to make their own all elements of this doctrine”. These “should not be considered, or consider themselves, shut off from the body of the faithful.

Pope Francis

Pope Francis

But they should remember that their good faith will be dependent on a sincere self-examination to determine the true motives and grounds for such suspension of assent and on continued effort to understand and deepen their knowledge of the teaching of the Church.”[3]

With regard to those in that situation, “the confessor or counsellor must show sympathetic understanding and reverence for the sincere good faith of those who fail in their effort to accept some point of the encyclical.”[4]

(Paragraph 26 stated:) “In accord with the accepted principles of moral theology, if these persons have tried sincerely but without success to pursue a line of conduct in keeping with the given directives, they may be safely assured that, whoever honestly chooses that course which seems right to him does so in good conscience.[5] (Emphasis added.)

Enough for now, sleep calls me to sweet dreams … more tomorrow perhaps, always assuming that God gives me another day, another do-over by His grace.

All the news that the MSM will never report … (especially in Canada)

Kojo No Tsuki” (Rentaro Taki), performed by Yo-Yo Ma, Michio Mamiya, & Patricia Zander, from the album “Japanese Melodies” (1990)

Iraq Qaraqosh 11. August 2017
Christian families return to Qaraqosh. Father George with the rebuilt map.

Interesting article here.  Western Progressive media (this covers just about all western media in fact) have been thunderously silent on the treatment of Christians in the Middle East outside of Israel. In the image on the right the yellow homes are the Christian homes destroyed by the Muslims. This information gap is ESPECIALLY insidious in Canada where our Progressive Socialist governments donate hundreds of millions of foreign aid money annually to the oldest Muslim terrorist organization in the world. Justin and his family recently spent his last winter Holidays with his “long time family friend and mentor” at his private Caribbean island. This person, this friend and “mentor” is the Aga Khan.

Given that friend and mentor’s position as the absolute ruler of the Nazari sect of the Ismaili Muslims, a branch of  Shia Islam,  it leads to some natural questions for any thinking Christian. One question: Is Justin Trudeau a deep cover Muslim affiliated with the Nazari sect (also known historically as “The Assassins“)? The Assassins have a very solid hold on the title of “Oldest Islamic Terrorist Organization” in history, operating since at least the late 11th century, or to give a bench mark, that was shortly after the Norman lord William the Conqueror took over in England.

The Aga Khan's Father

The Aga Khan’s Father March 16th, 1902

So, provocative conspiracy theory question: Is Justin a closet Muslim and an undercover Nazari assassin? Do we have our very own made in Canada version of Barry Obama as the closet Muslim president? Or is he just a useful idiot in keeping with Uncle Joe Stalin’s comment on “useful idiots” of the western left with his usefulness attached to his control of the Canadian Foreign Aid purse strings. Who else but Justin can annually and routinely approve hundreds of millions of dollars of Canadian taxpayer’s money in “donations” to the Aga Khan Foundation .

With reference to Taqiyya, it is reasonable to assume that everything one reads and finds at the foundation website is both true and good in an absolute and specific sense and is also a complete lie in the sense that the impression conveyed by the site is misleading in inviting ignorant unbelievers to assume that Nazari Islam is not a mortal enemy of Western “civilization”. History would seem to indicate otherwise but what do modern western progressives steeped in their cult of self worship and perversion know about history. Now they study “Social Studies”.

More seriously … given my feelings and observations about what passes for society and civilization in the western world today (based on observations of Social Media, Entertainment sources and the MSM) I think a totally solid case could easily be made that Islam is absolutely, even empirically, provably correct in their classification of “western civilization” as “evil” and requiring extermination to “cleanse” the world. One can rest on one’s laurels for only a limited time before degeneration sets in and the structure of western civ is now rotten to the core, even as the Roman empire was in Christ’s time.

I am tempted to consider the dictum “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Were I not already a committed Christian I suspect I would be tempted by Nazari Islam.  The question of trust remains a stumbling block. Then again, there is the Prophecy of Fatima and our Lady Maryam, a prophecy that through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima the world of Islam will be united with the world of Catholicism and become the one religion of the one God. Imagine that … just for a moment … what a world that would be, no? What would the unbelieving secular progressive leadership of the west be able to do about 4 billion believers? Could the believers influence a change for the better? Interesting future I see – over 50% of the world’s population united against the godless bureaucracies of Mordor and the Antichrist. hmmm … We can always pray.

Ave Maryam, Gratia plena
Maryam Gratia plena Ave, ave dominus,
Dominus tecum Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus fructus ventris tui Jesus.
Ave Maryam mater Dei
Ora pro nobis pecatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
In hora mortis, mortis nostrae Ave Maryam
Amén…

A daily Catholic prayer recited every morning: “In all things may the most holy, the most just, and the most lovable will of God be done, praised, and exalted above all forever. Thy will be done, Oh Lord, Thy will be done. The Lord has given, The Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of The Lord.”

As just another weary foot soldier in the battle of eternity, we are not promised victory in this life. This is the Long Defeat. This life is Boot Camp. We are simply called to remain faithful. Never give up, never give up, never give up.
