Death by Health Care …

Civil War Field Hospital …

Andrew W. Saul PH.D. writes: “NEARLY TWO-THIRDS OF A MILLION men died in the Civil War. All other U.S. wars put together add about another two-thirds of a million soldiers killed. That means that about 1,350,000 Americans have died, totally, in all the wars in U.S. history.

Yet we lose close to that number of Americans each year because of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Nearly 10 million soldiers were killed in World War I, charging machine guns and getting mowed down month after month for four terrible years.

The Centres for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention report that there are now 8 million cancer deaths worldwide in just one year. That rate is over three times as many deaths from cancer as from machine guns.

A different approach is needed immediately.  (Andrew W. Saul PH.D., Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease: 65 Experts on Therapeutic and Preventive Nutrition . Turner Publishing Company)

Spanish Flu – 1918 …

I recently read an article online under the heading “Politics/Pandemic” an article written in May of 2009, titled The Flu Hysteria Agency, It Always Is 1918 at the CDC.

William L. Anderson writes: “Wherever one turns, whether it is on the broadcast news or the Internet, we are bombarded with Swine Flu stories. Government tells us not to “panic,” while it simultaneously engages in activities meant to spread widespread fear.”  (Ed. Note: This article appeared at the height of the “Swine Flu” pandemic in 2009 – remember that one over ten years ago?  Has anything changed in the interim except the new “Official” name for the latest FEAR UNCERTAINLY AND DOUBT craze?

Indeed, as Robert Higgs has written, the very basis of government rests upon cultivating human fear: “The people who have the effrontery to rule us, who call themselves our government, understand this basic fact of human nature (about fear).

They exploit it, and they cultivate it. Whether they compose a warfare state or a welfare state, they depend on it to secure popular submission, compliance with official dictates, and, on some occasions, affirmative cooperation with the state’s enterprises and adventures.

Without popular fear, no government could endure more than twenty-four hours. David Hume taught that all government rests on public opinion, but that opinion, I maintain, is not the bedrock of government. Public opinion itself rests on something deeper: fear.

If one wishes to “test” Professor Higgs’ proposition, one needs to look no further than the actions of the Centers for Disease Control, which claims to be in a constant state of readiness in order to protect us from the next pandemic. At the CDC, it always is 1918, and an outbreak of “Spanish Flu” or something like it is just around the corner.

A visit to the CDC’s website shows that the CDC has placed the latest outbreak of Swine Flu (2009) front-and-center. News reports monitor the every word of the CDC “experts” who are bombarded with questions about whether or not this is the “Big One.” My sense is that the “experts,” the media, and everyone else in the Flu chain will be disappointed when this turns out to be another overblown “crisis” that governments have foisted upon us right-and-left.

One must remember that for many years, the CDC has been creating vast emergency “plans” that are supposed to swing into action the minute that a rumor is afloat that someone, somewhere, has the flu. Politicians and media figures also want a cut of the action and make sure that they keep the issue before us, telling us “what we need to know.”

Actually, what we need to know is that government is the last thing we need in our faces if there is a real pandemic. That is because governments played a major role in creating the conditions that turned the “Spanish Flu” situation of 1918 into a world-wide tragedy that led to the death of millions. If government is to trot out its “war emergency” model as the way to “protect” us from the flu, perhaps we need to be reminded of how well that model works – in making sure lots of people become sick and die.

Most people don’t remember 1918 as the year the flu pandemic began; they remember it as the year that World War I ended. This was the “War to End All Wars,” or so it was called, when a more appropriate title might have been the “War to Permanently Expand the State.” More than 10 million soldiers died on the battlefields of Europe and millions of civilians died deaths of starvation or were killed in the crossfire.

So  where are we now?????

Well!  Virtually all our media sources have stopped reporting “Deaths” and “Hospital Admissions” attributed to COVID-19. They have switched “en-mass” to just reporting “new cases”, which “new cases” includes any positive test result regardless of symptoms, and almost no one is currently reporting COVID-19 deaths.

Behind the scenes, the facts are that there are relatively few deaths from COVID-19. No fear to be had there anymore … we just are not dying enough … not enough casualties!  So the media and government are now desperately trying to attach the fear associated with mass deaths to the situation of “number of cases”.

So far, a CBC News tally of COVID-19 deaths based on provincial reports, regional health information and CBC’s reporting stood at 8,863. That is barely worse than a bad New Year’s Eve driving accident record. BUT!

In Canada, in a normal year, that is to say, every year, medical errors account for (at least) 28,000 deaths yearly, according to the Canadian Patient Safety Institute which campaigns to reduce that number. Errors are said to be the third leading cause of death in Canada after cancer and heart disease, and every minute and 18 seconds someone is injured from unintended medical system harm.

So far, according to a mortality analysis by Johns Hopkins University’s Corona-virus Resource Center, about 6% of the nearly 1.7 million people who have tested positive for the Coronavirus in the U.S. have succumbed to the disease. That’s 102,000 deaths attributed to “Coronavirus “related” disease”. In any other years these deaths would be reported as due to Flu and Pneumonia and wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow..

But also according to a recent study by Johns Hopkins, more than 250,000 people in the United States die every year because of medical mistakes, making it the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer, same as in Canada.

These 250,000 deaths are the “lowest number” conservative documented “reported” numbers with some authors claiming that at least twice that many deaths due to medical misadventure that go unreported to protect the medical establishment.

So way more people in Canada and the U.S.A. die every year from “Medical Oopsies” than from anything related to “Coronavirus”, the purported cause of this particular “Red Bat Flu”, and the supposed causal relationship has never been even remotely proven. Do the math … the real threat here is the Medical System. People are dying of COVID-19 because they went to the hospital when they developed symptoms.

Even the inventor of “the test” whose work won him a Nobel Prize,  has testified before Congress that this type of “test” cannot be used for testing what they are claiming to test because it doesn’t actually “test” for any virus but rather for DNA snippets that are “theoretically” associated with the existence of “theoretical” viruses which might be associated with some disease symptoms, and the more times the test is repeated (recooked) the higher the likely-hood of a “Positive”.

So, back to Andrew W. Saul PH.D.  “Nutrient therapy, properly dosed and administered, can be the answer to many chronic medical problems. The list is far longer than the deficiency diseases. A drug in either low or high doses cannot act as a vitamin will, but a vitamin in large doses can act as a drug. Very high blood concentrations of vitamin C, for example, are selectively toxic to cancer cells.

Nutritional supplementation is not the answer to every health problem, but it does not have to be. The standard is not perfection; the standard is the alternative. Drug medicine is increasingly obsolete. The centre has shifted. It is pharmacy that is the alternative if nutrition fails, and that is rarely.

Roger J. Williams so well said: “When in doubt use nutrition first.” Dr. Frederick R. Klenner said: “Vitamin C should be given while doctors ponder the diagnosis.” And long ago, Sir William Osler, a medical doctor, said: “One of the first duties of the physician is to educate the masses not to take medicine.” Dr. Abram Hoffer said: “Drugs make a well person sick. Why would they make a sick person well?”

Applying the body of knowledge accumulated by orthomolecular physicians and researchers can be done. We’ve all been taught that anything that is safe and inexpensive cannot possibly be really effective against “real diseases.” It is time to rethink that, and especially to see what has already been accomplished.

Improbable does not mean impossible. Physicians who categorically rule out nutritional therapy mimic their forbearers by overreliance on patent remedies. Much of “modern medicine” may be defined as “the experimental study of what happens when poisonous chemicals are placed into malnourished human bodies.”

Someday, health care without orthomolecular nutrition therapy will be seen as we today see childbirth without sanitation or surgery without anesthetic. Here in Part Three we present the vitamin therapies and nutritional approaches pioneering physicians then and now are using to successfully treat many of our most common chronic diseases. —A.W.S.

2020, How Are Things So Far … Big Brother Tightens The Net …

Ballad Of A Thin Man”, Bob Dylan, from the album “Highway 61 Revisited”, (1965)

Well, like every day in a life, there are good things and bad things. I finally got around to sorting email and reading the important ones, and answering the really important ones … 150 emails a day really starts to pile up if you don’t look at them every couple of days. Things are finally starting to settle down here in the Shire and it looks like “the authorities” may be starting to relax all the state imposed restrictions of freedom of meeting and association and all that stuff.

No Relaxing …

The plague has claimed no victims in our county, and there is some light at the end of the tunnel. It looks like the authorities have realized (in a classic corner office “DUH!” moment) that the most important victim of the Great Red Bat Flu Pandemic of 2020 has been the economy … destroyed utterly by all the restrictions to movement and social distancing.

Thankfully, there are noises in all the usual places about starting to relax all the restrictions in a “phased in” sort of way because we all know that biological agents respond well to government restrictions and we wouldn’t want to upset them by “freeing the prisoners” too fast.

Of course, it will never go back to what once was ’cause governments never give up whatever power they grab. And then there is Calgary, in which, Social Media, claims there is no relaxing.

No Relaxing …

Reports out of the east have it that the fines imposed by police for “social distancing” crimes in Ontario and Quebec are now over 6 Million dollars and still climbing, with Toronto and Montreal grabbing the lion’s share of “Social Distancing” revenue.

This has been accepted totally by the residents of those fair lands because, after all, it’s all “for our own protection” Right? If folks accepted “photo-radar” they will certainly accept “social distancing”.

“Normal” implies “norms” of which our polite society has been completely devoid of for nigh on 30 years now. Going back to “normal” simply isn’t in anyone’s future in Canada. Remember “Woodstock”? That was a cultural monument to personal freedom and choices, wasn’t it?

It literally took place in the middle of the Great Hong Kong Flu pandemic of 1968 and 1969. Hong Kong Flu was a much greater killer that Red Bat Flu … and not a soul ever suggested restricting anything.

Because Hong Kong Flu wasn’t a very bad flu by world standards … just another flu season, that killed “weakened” victims as well as some of the young and even children. No biggy. Sigh … I think the sky is falling … NO! wait … that was yesterday.

I remember as a child and teenager, my grandfather telling stories of the “Spanish” flu which killed a couple of family members (his sisters) in Halifax, and is reported to have killed somewhere between 17 million and 50 million people worldwide (precision in statistics wasn’t a thing back then either). It was called “Spanish” flu because it was wartime and the press were censored and not allowed to report on anything except in neutral Spain.

There is a lot of evidence that this flu actually originated in (wait for it!) China and was transmitted by Chinese workers, but the Wickedpedia makes sure to tell us that there is a body of publications by China and others explaining why that was impossible. Things haven’t changed much in the last hundred years, have they?

All sort of in jest …right? But I will point to some links showing how that is starting to unfold in Europe and no doubt it will spread here in a very real pandemic of bureaucratic totalitarian strangulation.  Check out the enlightening article at this site.

We always lag Europe by a couple or so years before we start “controversial” programs here.  The links in the French Public Schools article go to the French Government’s instructions about how to run the schools as they re-open, and they take you to PDF’s which are in French. I guess there were some good after-effects of the Quebec Education system of the 60’s since I can still read French, but you might run it through GOOGLE Translate? Unless of course you too were a victim of the “Quiet Revolution”. In which case you remember everything and won’t have any problems, right?

So how are things in the ROC?

That Mayo Clinic article which a reader sent to me, is a very reasonable article. I like it because it clearly, and in detail, lists the mainstream health system’s “opinions” on vitamin supplements in general and Niacin in particular. The opening argument is: “most people get enough niacin from the food they eat. Foods rich in niacin include yeast, milk, meat, tortillas and cereal grains.”.

This has been an unconsidered reply to any question about vitamins for over a hundred years now and is simply untrue. The current public health response to vitamin deficiency disease is :”There is no problem … we are following the guidelines, here you stupid, uneducated, whiny patient, take these expensive drugs for your psychosomatic problems and come back in a month so we can bill again”.  After all, it’s all “FREE”, right?

We’ve been here all along, people, think about Cancer  and all the success we have had “curing” that killer.  I am always interested in new information streams regarding health and fitness. For several years now I have been following up on and reading about Cancer as a metabolic disease rather than a genetic disease. I wrote about it here under the topic of Models that work.  I also mentioned this here, and here, and here, and here.

The blind leading the blind, with a long pause at the bus-stop of “Wealth Management” … for the right shareholders.

I have personal friends and close relatives who have died of cancer. I have a great personal interest in this killer and the politics and economics swirling around it. Just think about it for a bit … AND I have close personal friends and customers, and my own ever-lovin’ self who are, or were, actually suffering from what now appear to be deficiency diseases rather than “normal” diseases of aging.

The elephant in the room when it comes to cancer is our Research and Medical treatment system’s extraordinary failure to make any progress in 50 years of “War on Cancer”.

With literally billions sunk into this bottomless hole of terror we still routinely accept that something like 98% pf cancer sufferers won’t last 5 years. This appears to me (in my Homer Simpson simplicity) to indicate that the current model is NOT WORKING, (DUH!) and we are simply barking up the wrong tree.

It is not a stretch to conclude that there are other interests wedded to this model and keeping us on this track rather than a genuine desire to cure cancer. Would we need a Department of Health if everyone was healthy? Hmmmm.

There is now another elephant in the room … GEE!  it’s getting really crowded in here! We are more and more realizing that the same model that is used for “Cancer Cures”, also applies to deficiency diseases. There is not a shred of research published anywhere to back it up. It is the “opinion” of some anonymous faces in the food chain of our academic and health bureaucracy.

Our processed food supply and our farming methods have so depleted our soils that natural levels of nutrients in processed foods and unprocessed fruits and vegetables are dramatically insufficient for the health of consumers.

No-one today can rely on our grocery store foods to get healthy levels of nutrients. And there is no standard human requirement for these nutrients. The “recommended daily allowance” is just the opinion of someone in the nutritional establishment needing to plug some value into a briefing note. there is no “science” involved except in using the word “science” in the justifications to make readers feel safe(r). Everyone is different and some require high and even very high amounts and some require less.

We are all “outliers”.  But the mathematical use of statistics and such  are way different from normal day to day uses of stats as employed by government and media.

In fact, by any definition the actual use of statistical “science” to find truth is in and of itself an “outlier”. Think about that one for a minute and you might realize that the “outliers” might be the only “correct” data points, hmmm.

Manipulating statistics with imagery, implication, innuendo, and allusion, and just plain good ol’ falsehoods is the essence and lifeblood of propaganda, and accounts for about 90% of all government news releases and media reports (did you catch the misuse of statistics in that line?).

Case: The retail vitamin supplements available in grocery and drug stores provide a reasonably detailed list of what is required, but the recommended daily allowances are simply pulled out of the air in amounts that can have no conceivable effect on the consumer all the while protecting the asses of the bureaucrats who approve these “recommended” allowances,

Warnings can be “nuanced”. I especially liked the way The Mayo Clinic worded the “warning” about Diabetes medications: “If you have diabetes, niacin can interfere with blood glucose control. You might need to adjust the dose of your diabetes drugs.” Another way of referring to the same phenomenon would be: “Regular daily dose of 3 grams of Niacin reduces excess blood glucose therefore requiring reduction or complete elimination of Diabetes medications as a medical necessity.

What isn’t published anywhere except in the fine print regarding Doners to, and Owners of, the Mayo Clinic, is where the funding comes from and the “unbiased” medical agenda underlying their operation.

Coincidentally Niacin also reduces blood pressure and the levels of dangerous cholesterol much better and more safely than the current regime of guidelines recommended patented drugs and for a fraction of the cost.

My own doctor, who is very much a “guidelines” gospel believer, has acknowledged with a frown and a shrug that I am no longer diabetic, no longer have high blood pressure, no longer have cholesterol problems and have a normal lipid profile and a better range of motion and much less pain in my joints. And sleeping well … blessed sleep … thank you very much Niacin.

Case in point is that I noticed this morning while coming down the stairs to work that I had absolutely no pain in my knees or hips and was completely flexible with good balance. That is a big change from two years ago when I was in such pain that I thought the next medical event in my life would be knee and hip replacements like my older aunts and grandparents.

So … when I look at my health life since January 2017 I see large improvements in my health. In short, I was fat and dying of all the usual killers, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and joint deterioration. Now I have lost over 40 pounds of fat, and moved from a future that held Insulin for my Diabetes, ACE Inhibitors for my Cholesterol problems, joint replacements for my failing knees and hips, and drugs for blood pressure and for anxiety problems and sleep disruptions.

Now, by every measure and lab test, I am completely healthy, with none of the above problems, and not on any medication. I am brighter, more rested, thinking clearly and optimistic for the future at least half the time (well, I am still aging, and old guys do get down about getting old from time to time even if they are healthy).

And I did it myself, by not following my doctors advice, and taking the drugs but rather by changing my diet and supplements. This has been a three year process of blood testing and examination and re-examination.

My doctor also complains, “But my patients want an instant fix without having to change any of their lifestyle habits. What am I to do? The drugs help for a while, and they are approved by the “guidelines. So I follow the guidelines.” When I ask him “Do You Take The Drugs?” The answer is “No, but…”

After reading several books, including the title I mentioned in a previous post,  Niacin: The Real Story: Learn about the Wonderful Healing Properties of Niacin  – October 9, 2015 by Abram Hoffer M.D. Ph.D. (Author), Andrew W. Saul Ph.D. (Author), Harold D. Foster (Author), my conclusion is that the use of naturally occurring non-patentable Niacin is only actually a big threat to Drug Companies profit picture.

Of course depending on just health books runs the risk of killing myself with a misprint, but I never rely on just one book or just one source, and my wife and I do a LOT of digging and are very careful with everything we try.

Everyone is different, we are all outliers. There is no scientifically proven “standard” for nutrition that applies to all humans, and “daily recommended allowances are simply the opinion of the writers with no basis in research.

The start of this new health path for me was to STOP taking things (like food – otherwise known as “fasting”) and then try to find what worked and what was problematic in the whole food arena, a kind of “Trial by Error” with an “N” of 1.

The other big encouraging event in our lives was my daughter being able to “cure” her Bipolar disease, by weaning herself off of all psych meds over a period of two years, and adopting a regimen of nutrient supplements through “True Hope”.

So, we continue to soldier on here in the Shire, and business is steady because folks need to get their drugs (irony alert!) and we are considered “essential” along with Alcohol and Cannabis, and grocery stores.

We have to stay aware of the fact that none of this life style change provides an “instant fix”, it takes months and years of persistent change to see the results, but all the information is out there if you are willing to search and read broadly. So thank God for His blessings and take the long view – Eternity is real.

Here’s another couple or three more interesting books, one of which is unfortunately is not available on Kindle, but I ordered a hard copy anyway,  Goldberger’s War by Alan M. Kraut ,

Goldberger’s War is the story of one of the U.S. Public Health Service’s most renowned heroes–an immigrant Jew who trained as a doctor at Bellevue, became a young recruit to the federal government’s health service, and ended an American plague, Pellagra.

At the same time Canadian “authorities” banned his nutrient based solution allegedly because they didn’t want to “adulterate” our wheat flour. Instead, they chose to keep the Pellagra because it wasn’t as serious a problem here as it was in the the United States. I wonder who they blamed for that one … Trump wasn’t even born yet?????

Anyway, the second book is: “The Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease“. This is a GREAT BOOK.  At 800 pages, The Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease is a very large book, but it is also a very practical book. If you want to know which illnesses best respond to nutrition therapy, and how and why that therapy works, this is the book for you.

Part One presents the principles of orthomolecular medicine and the science behind them. Part Two is devoted to orthomolecular pioneers, presenting an introduction to maverick doctors and nutrition scientists in a reader-friendly way that brings the subject to life. Part Three brings together extraordinary clinical and experimental evidence from expert researchers and clinicians.

And, third, last but not least in my library of new books is also a hard copy of Jason Fung’s new book:  Life in The Fasting Lane.

I’ve talked glowingly about Dr. Fung before because his method has had such a life saving effect on my own existence so I will leave that to his blog site. I had to order it from Amazon.ca because Amazon.com wouldn’t ship a hard copy to Canada.

Of course, always remember my disclaimer here.

Cheers
